Bevan John Docherty (born 29 March 1977) is a triathlete from New Zealand, who won medals twice at the Olympic Games. Docherty attended Tauhara College, Taupo. Life Docherty and his sister Fiona grew up in Taupo, in the North Island of New Zealand and attended Tauhara College. Their father Ray was a keen triathlete and their mother, Irene, her sister and Bevan trained and competed with him. In 2004, Docherty won the ITU world championship, and the silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, behind fellow New Zealander Hamish Carter. Mark John Docherty (born 15 May 1988) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a defender for West of Scotland Football League side Arthurlie. Valerie E. Docherty (born 25 June 1963) is a Canadian politician. She was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island in the 2007 provincial election. Tony Docherty (born 24 January 1971 in East Kilbride) is a Scottish football player and coach. Career Docherty's short career began in 1987 with Dunfermline Athletic before moving to English side Cambridge United. In the early 1990s, Docherty returned to Scotland, having spells with Stirling Albion, East Stirlingshire and Albion Rovers. Thomas Henderson Docherty (24 April 1928 – 31 December 2020), commonly known as The Doc, was a Scottish football player and manager. Docherty played for several clubs, most notably Preston North End, and represented Scotland 25 times between 1951 and 1959. He then managed a total of 13 clubs between 1961 and 1988, as well as the Scottish national team. Docherty was manager of Manchester United between 1972 and 1977, during which time they were relegated to the Second Division, but promoted back to the First Division as champions at the first attempt. He also played for both Airdrieonians and their re-inacarnation Airdrie United. Richard Docherty (1899–1979) was a Catholic priest who established the mission at Port Keats, now known as Wadeye in the Northern Territory of Australia. Timeline In 1899, Docherty was born in Urwin, Western Australia. 28 years later, in 1927, he was ordained as a priest, Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (M.S.C.). A year later, he moved to Darwin, and then to Werntek Nganayi 7 years later, in 1935. 4 years after this, in 1939, he moved to Wadeye, where he stayed for 19 years, his longest place of residence since being ordained. In 1958, he moved to the city of Sydney, over 2500 miles away, where he stayed for a year before moving to Hammond Island, a small island in the Torres Strait between Australia and Papua New Guinea. Peter Docherty (14 February 19291957) was an English footballer who played as an outside forward in the Football League for Darlington. Docherty signed for First Division club Fulham in September 1949, but he never represented them in the league, and returned to his native north-east of England and signed for Darlington a year later. Standing in for regular outside left Gordon Galley, Docherty scored on his senior debut, on 7 October 1950 in a 1–1 draw at home to Tranmere Rovers in the Third Division North.
