Doce River Basin
The Doce River Basin (Portuguese language, Portuguese: ''Bacia do rio Doce'') is located in the Southeast Region, Brazil, southeastern region of Brazil. According to the Doce River Basin Committee (CBH-Doce), it belongs to the Southeast Atlantic hydrographic region, has a drainage area of 86,175 square kilometers and covers all or part of 229 municipalities. 86% of the basin's area belongs to the state of Minas Gerais, in the Vale do Rio Doce (mesoregion), Doce River Valley, and 14% to Espírito Santo. Description The main sources of the Doce River emerge in the Mantiqueira Mountains, Mantiqueira and Espinhaço Mountains, Espinhaço mountain ranges. It is formed from the confluence of the Piranga River, Piranga and Do Carmo River (Minas Gerais), Carmo rivers between the municipalities of Ponte Nova, Rio Doce, Minas Gerais, Rio Doce and Santa Cruz do Escalvado, in the state of Minas Gerais. In geology, a depression is a landform sunken or depressed below the surrounding area. Depressions form by various mechanisms. Linhares
Linhares is the name of a municipality in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil, north of the state capital, Vitória. It is the largest municipality by area in the state, at 9,501.6 km², and has a population of 176,688 people (2020). The municipality is named in honor of D. Rodrigo de Souza Coutinho, Count of Linhares, who was a minister in the Brazilian government in the first two decades of the 19th century. The city took international knowledge, being the residence of Miss Gay Brazil 2013 and 2014. History The area today known as Linhares was once inhabited by the Botocudo. The town, founded by Europeans on August 22, 1800 was destroyed by the Indians during a war in 1809. The area was visited by Brazilian Emperor Dom Pedro II in 1860. Guandu River (Rio De Janeiro)
The Guandu River is a river of Rio de Janeiro state in southeastern Brazil. This river together with the Paraíba do Sul River are the most important in the Rio de Janeiro state. The river supplies water to 9 million people in Greater Rio de Janeiro. Many tributaries of the river rise in the Mendanha State Park, created in 2013. An aqueduct carries the water across the Pedra Branca State Park to Rio's south zone. Pollution Guandu river is heavily polluted since it receives everything from raw sewage to industrial waste throughout its course. The pollution problem is so serious that it threatens the water supply of the Rio de Janeiro metropolitan area. CEDAE, the water and sewer company of the state, recognizes that the problem is very serious. Manhuaçu
Manhuaçu is a municipality in Eastern Minas Gerais state, in Brazil. Its population was 91,169 (2020) and its area is 628 km2. Location Located 260 km from the state capital of Belo Horizonte, it is near the important road junction of BR 262 (Belo Horizonte-Vitória) and BR 116 (Rio-Bahia). Caratinga is a municipality in eastern Minas Gerais state, Brazil. The population in 2020 was 92,603 inhabitants and the total area of the municipality was 1,251 km2. The elevation is 578 meters above sea level, with maximum elevation of 1,516 m in the Serra do Rio Preto and 330 m at the mouth of the Córrego Boachá.
