''Django Defies Sartana'' (Italian: Django sfida Santana) is a 1970 Italian Spaghetti Western directed by Pasquale Squitieri (as William Redford). The film is also known as ''Django Against Sartana''. or ''Django Challenges Sartana''. Plot Django is looking for the murderer of his brother Steve, that he has found hanged near Tombstone. Django first believes Sartana, a rival bounty hunter, is the murderer and goes after him. However, after a fight, Django understands that he was wrong and both men decide to find the real culprit together. Pasquale Squitieri
Pasquale Squitieri (27 November 1938 – 18 February 2017) was an Italian film director and screenwriter. Life and career Born in Naples, Squitieri graduated in law, then was briefly involved in stage, as author ("''La battaglia''") and even actor (directed by Francesco Rosi). He made his film debut with '' Io e Dio'', produced by Vittorio De Sica, and, after two Spaghetti Westerns he signed as William Redford, he focused on drama films centered on political and social issues. His film ''Il prefetto di ferro'' won the David di Donatello for Best Film in 1978. '' Li chiamarono... briganti!'', a film about the brigand Carmine Crocco, was suspended from the cinemas and it is not available on the home video market. Films, particularly those of the influential Dollars trilogy, spawned numerous films of the same ilk and often with similar titles, particularly from the mid to late 1960s and early 1970s. Piero Umiliani (17 July 1926 – 14 February 2001) was an Italian composer of film scores. Biography Umiliani was born in Florence, Tuscany. Like many of his Italian colleagues at that time, he composed the scores for many exploitation films in the 1960s and 1970s, covering genres such as Spaghetti Westerns, Eurospy, Giallo, and softcore sex films. His composition " Mah Nà Mah Nà" (1968) was originally used in '' Sweden: Heaven and Hell'', a 1968 Mondo documentary about Sweden. George Ardisson
Giorgio Ardisson, best known as George Ardisson (31 December 1931 – 11 December 2014), was an Italian actor. Life and career Born in Turin, Ardisson debuted in a minor role in Mauro Bolognini's 1959 film '' Arrangiatevi!''. After several secondary roles in sword-and-sandal and adventure films, he gained a huge success playing Agent 3S3 in the eurospy films '' Agent 3S3: Passport to Hell'' and '' Agent 3S3, Massacre in the Sun''. According to director Sergio Sollima he was chosen for this role thanks to his physical appearance that made him credible as American. Later Ardisson starred in several more spy films and spanned different genres, including Spaghetti Western and Italo-horror films.
