''Diya'', previously known as ''Karu'' (), is a 2018 Indian horror film directed by A. L. Vijay and produced by Lyca Productions. The film is shot simultaneously in Tamil language, Tamil and Telugu language, Telugu languages, the latter titled as ''Kanam'' (). It stars Sai Pallavi, Naga Shourya, and Veronika Arora. ''Diya'' (; : ''diyāt'', ) in Islamic law, is the financial compensation paid to the victim or heirs of a victim in the cases of murder, bodily harm or property damage by mistake. It is an alternative punishment to '' qisas'' (equal retaliation). In Arabic, the word means both blood money and ransom, and it is spelled sometimes as ''diyah'' or ''diyeh''. A diya, diyo, deya, deeya, dia, divaa, deepa, deepam, deep, deepak or saaki () is an oil lamp made from clay or mud with a cotton wick dipped in oil or ghee. Diya Women Football Club (), also referred to as Diya WFC, Diya FC, Diya, Diya Women FC, or DWFC, is a Pakistani women's association football and futsal club based in Karachi. WASP-72 (also known as CD-30 1019 and officially named Diya) is the primary of a binary star system. It is an F7 class dwarf star, with an internal structure just on the verge of the Kraft break. It is orbited by a planet, WASP-72b. The age of WASP-72 is younger than the Sun at 3.55 billion years.
