Dive (Tycho Album)
''Dive'' is the second studio album by American ambient musician Scott Hansen's project Tycho. Taking around five years to produce and write, ''Dive'', according to Hansen, is a set of "artifacts from a future which might have more in common with our past than our present." It is an electronica record with a sound and style that was compared to the works of Scottish group Boards of Canada by multiple professional music journalists. ''Dive'' was released on November 8, 2011 by the label Ghostly International to mostly positive reviews from critics, and it landed on ''Billboard'''s United States Top Dance/Electronic Albums and Top Heatseekers Albums charts. Scott Hansen (born February 7, 1977), known professionally as Tycho ( ), is an American musician, record producer, composer, and songwriter based in San Francisco. He is also known as ISO50 for his photographic and design work. His music blends multiple stylistic components, including downtempo guitar, analogue synthesis, and ambient elements such as breathing and found sounds of weather broadcasts and dialogue. History Tycho's first EP, titled '' The Science of Patterns'', was released in 2002. The first Tycho album, '' Past Is Prologue,'' was released in 2006. At this time Tycho was a solo project created by Hansen. Tycho signed to Mom+Pop and Ninja Tune in 2019 but has also released music on Ghostly International, Merck Records and Gammaphone Records. Minimoog
The Minimoog is an analog synthesizer first manufactured by Moog Music between 1970 and 1981. Designed as a more affordable, portable version of the modular Moog synthesizer, it was the first synthesizer sold in retail stores. It was first popular with progressive rock and jazz musicians and found wide use in disco, pop, rock and electronic music. Production of the Minimoog stopped in the early 1980s after the sale of Moog Music. In 2002, founder Robert Moog regained the rights to the Moog brand, bought the company, and released an updated version of the Minimoog, the Minimoog Voyager. In 2016 and in 2022, Moog Music released another new version of the original Minimoog. A software synthesizer or softsynth is a computer program that generates digital audio, usually for music.
