Distant Shores (album)
''Distant Shores'' is the fifth studio album by the English duo Chad & Jeremy. It was released on 15 August 1966. ''Distant Shores'' was recorded between November 1965 and March 1966. This is the first album in which the duo were given time to craft their sound and style. This album is a precursor to their Psychedelic music, psychedelic album, ''Of Cabbages and Kings (album), Of Cabbages and Kings''. It includes the first recording of Paul Simon's "Homeward Bound (Simon & Garfunkel song), Homeward Bound", predating even Simon & Garfunkel's record. The title track was composed by the duo's young bassist, James William Guercio, who went on to his own significant career in the music industry. Chad & Jeremy
Chad & Jeremy were a British musical duo consisting of Chad Stuart and Jeremy Clyde, who began working in 1962 and had their first hit song in the UK with " Yesterday's Gone" (1963). That song became a hit in the United States in the following year as part of the British Invasion. Unlike the rock-music sounds of their peers, Chad & Jeremy performed in a soft, folk-inflected style characterized by hushed and whispered vocals. "Homeward Bound" is a song by the American music duo Simon & Garfunkel, released as a single on January 19, 1966, by Columbia Records. It was written by Paul Simon and produced by Bob Johnston. Simon wrote the song during his time in England, possibly while waiting for a train at Widnes railway station in the northwest of England, and though the station in question was thought to have been Widnes Central, there is a plaque commemorating this at Widnes Station. "Homeward Bound" appears on the duo's third studio album, ''Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme'' (1966), although it was recorded during the sessions for their second album, ''Sounds of Silence'' and included on that album in the UK. Jonathan King
Jonathan King (born Kenneth George King; 6 December 1944) is an English singer, songwriter and record producer. He first came to prominence in 1965 when "Everyone's Gone to the Moon", a song that he wrote and sang while still an undergraduate, achieved chart success. King's career in the music industry was effectively ended in 2001, when he was convicted of sexually abusing five teenage boys. King discovered and named the rock band Genesis (band), Genesis in 1967, producing their first album ''From Genesis to Revelation''. He founded his own label UK Records in 1972. Everyone's Gone To The Moon
"Everyone's Gone to the Moon" is the debut single by the English singer-songwriter and record producer Jonathan King. It was released in 1965 while King was still an undergraduate at Cambridge University. Early copies of this single, in all territories and on all labels, spell the artist's first name (a stage name) as Johnathan. For all later singles, the spelling was rendered as Jonathan, and most compilation appearances of this track use the more conventional Jonathan spelling as well. Michael Jeremy Thomas Clyde (born 22 March 1941) is an English actor and musician. During the 1960s, he was one-half of the folk duo Chad & Jeremy (with Chad Stuart). Their first song was the 1963 hit " Yesterday’s Gone". The duo became more successful in America than in their native country. Clyde has enjoyed a long television acting career, often playing upper-middle class or aristocratic characters. Dorothy Fields (July 15, 1904 – March 28, 1974) was an American librettist and lyricist. She wrote more than 400 songs for Broadway musicals and films. The Way You Look Tonight
"The Way You Look To-night" is a song from the film '' Swing Time'' that was performed by Fred Astaire and composed by Jerome Kern with lyrics written by Dorothy Fields. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1936. Fields remarked, "The first time Jerry played that melody for me I went out and started to cry. The release absolutely killed me. I couldn't stop, it was so beautiful." In the movie, Astaire sang "The Way You Look To-night" to Ginger Rogers while she was washing her hair in an adjacent room. Robert Charles Goldsboro (born January 18, 1941) is an American pop and country singer and songwriter. James Oscar Smith (December 8, 1928 – February 8, 2005) was an American jazz musician who helped popularize the Hammond organ, Hammond B-3 organ, creating a link between jazz and 1960s soul music.
