Discovery Channel (Hungary)
Discovery Channel Hungary is a Hungarian television channel. Discovery Channel began broadcasting to Hungary in 1997. The Hungarian version was launched on 1 March 2005. Advertising sales are handled by R-Time, which is owned by RTL (Hungarian TV channel), RTL. Along with the other Discovery channels in Central Europe, Discovery Hungary adopted the new Discovery logo on 1 July 2009. The ''Attraktor'', the first Hungarian-made programme on the channel, was first shown on 14 November 2014 in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania. The show had been formerly aired on the news website Index (Hungarian website), Index.hu which now produces the series. Discovery Channel (often referred to as simply Discovery) is a Romanian pay television channel owned by Warner Bros. Discovery. Its programming is primarily sourced from Discovery Channel in the US. Discovery Channel (Europe) is the Pan-European version of the Discovery Channel. Over the years, the Discovery Channel has been split into many different channels for specific regions. Most language regions in Western Europe now have their own versions of the channel, and the Pan-European is therefore now mostly available in countries in Central and Eastern Europe. The channel is broadcast from the United Kingdom and holds an Ofcom licence. RTL (formerly: RTL Klub and abbreviated as RTL HU) is a Hungarian free-to-air television channel owned by RTL Group. History Since its start, RTL Klub has focused to gain viewers from the urban population. The channel airs programs mostly for a younger (18-49) audience.
