Discovery Bay Tunnel
The Discovery Bay Tunnel () is a toll tunnel that links Discovery Bay Road at Yi Pak Au to Cheung Tung Road at Siu Ho Wan beside the North Lantau Highway. It was built for the Discovery Bay residential development on the north-eastern coast of Lantau Island, Hong Kong. It is open 24 hours everyday to vehicles approved by the Transport Department; including residents' coaches, goods vehicles for goods delivery and servicing functions, and Hong Kong Government vehicles are allowed to use the tunnel. The toll charge ranges between HK$ 50.00 to 250.00 depending on the type of vehicle. As the development is car-free, private vehicles are discouraged from entering. Private cars or private delivery vans can only enter with special permits issued in advance, between the hours of 09:00 and 18:00 every day. Siu Ho Wan
Siu Ho Wan (, lit. ''small inlet bay'') is a bay on the north shore of Lantau Island in Hong Kong. The bay has been largely reclaimed for bus depots. The Airport Express, Tung Chung line of the MTR and the North Lantau Highway run across the reclamation of the bay. The Siu Ho Wan MTR depot lies on the reclaimed shore between Ngau Kok Wan and is currently used by Airport Express, Tung Chung line and Disneyland Resort line. History In the 1990s, the Hong Kong Government reclaimed the bay in order to construct links to the new Chek Lap Kok airport and the new town of Tung Chung, including the North Lantau Highway, Airport Express and Tung Chung line. North Lantau Highway is an expressway forming part of Hong Kong's Route 8, linking Hong Kong International Airport and Lantau Island with the rest of the territory. The road has three lanes in each direction for its entire length with full-width hard shoulders for emergencies and breakdowns. The speed limit is for most of its length, the highest of any road in Hong Kong. North Lantau Highway is in length, beginning at Airport Road on Chek Lap Kok.
