''Discovery at Dawn'' ( it, La scoperta dell'alba) is a 2012 Italian drama film co-written and directed by Susanna Nicchiarelli. It is loosely based on the novel ''La scoperta dell'alba'' by Walter Veltroni. The film premiered at the 2012 Rome International Film Festival. Plot Thirty years after the disappearance of her father, a woman discovers she can make phone calls to her past self. Susanna Nicchiarelli
Susanna Nicchiarelli (; born 6 May 1975) is an Italian director, actress and screenwriter. Biography Nicchiarelli graduated in Philosophy at the Sapienza University in Rome and gained a PhD in Philosophy at the Scuola Normale in Pisa and a Directing degree at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in 2004. After having written and directed many short films and documentaries, her first film ''Cosmonaut'' was acclaimed at the 2009 Venice Film Festival and gained her a nomination as Best New Director for the David di Donatello Awards and the Nastri d'Argento Awards, while her second film, ''Discovery at Dawn'', based on the book by Walter Veltroni was presented at the 2012 Rome Film Festival. Lino Guanciale (born 21 May 1979) is an Italian actor. Early life Born in Abruzzo, his father is a doctor and his mother is a teacher; he has a brother whose name is Giorgio. Pasqualina "Lina" Sastri is an Italian actress and singer. Life and career Born in Naples, Lina Sastri started acting in amateur dramatics at very young age. Renato Carpentieri (born 2 April 1943) is an Italian actor, stage director and playwright. Life and career Born in Savignano Irpino, Avellino, Carpentieri studied architecture in Naples, where from 1965 to 1974 he was engaged in the organization and promotion of cultural events with the group Nuova Cultura. Sergio Rubini (born 21 December 1959) is an Italian actor, film director and screenwriter. Life and career Rubini was born in Grumo Appula, Apulia, but soon moved to Rome to study acting. Margherita Buy (born 15 January 1962) is an Italian actress. She is a seven-time David di Donatello Awards winner and seven-time Nastro d'argento winner.
