Rolf Disch is a German architect, solar energy pioneer and environmental activist. Born in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, Disch has dedicated particular focus to regional renewable and sustainable energy. As head of his own architecture firm, Rolf Disch Solar Architecture, Disch is committed to advancing Germany's incorporation of solar energy generation into residential, retail, and commercial building and design. In 1994, Rolf Disch built the Heliotrope in Freiburg which was the world’s first home to create more energy than it uses, as it physically rotates with the sun to maximize its solar intake. Disch then developed the concept PlusEnergy, simply making it a permanent goal for his buildings to produce more energy than they consume in order to sell the surplus solar energy back into the grid for profit. Billy Disch
William John Disch (October 15, 1872 – February 3, 1953) was an American baseball player and coach. He served as the head baseball coach at the University of Texas at Austin from 1911 to 1939 and as an advisory coach for 12 seasons afterwards. Career Often called the Connie Mack of college baseball, Disch earned a 513–180–12 overall record at Texas, including a collegiate record of 465-115-9, and garnered 20 Southwest Conference titles with a conference record of 284-70-4. At the time he coached, there were no NCAA postseason playoffs for national honors. Along with Bibb Falk, Disch is one of the two namesakes of UFCU Disch–Falk Field. Disch managed in minor league baseball, where he also was a player. He managed the 1911 Beeville Orange Growers to a 63–54 record and the Class D level Southwest Texas League championship. William Disch
William Disch (January 12, 1840 – 1912) was a Swiss-born member of the Wisconsin State Assembly. Biography Disch was born on January 12, 1840, in Glarus, Switzerland. He later moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. During the American Civil War, he served with the 24th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment of the Union Army. Disch died in 1912 and was buried at Forest Home Cemetery. Political career Disch was elected to the Assembly for Milwaukee County's Third District in 1906 and 1908. Disch Field
Disch Field was a baseball field located in Austin, Texas that opened in 1947 and hosted many minor league teams and playoff series. The diamond is at the present time part of the park behind The Long Center for the Performing Arts and the Palmer Events Complex between W. Riverside Drive and Barton Springs Road in South Austin, along the Colorado River. The park includes an open area called Willie Wells Field, named for the Austin-born Negro league baseball legend. Disch Field was the first, followed by UFCU Disch-Falk Field, to be named after Billy Disch. Playoff Appearances The Austin teams were quite successful while they called Disch Field home. The Pioneers went to the playoffs in 1948, 1949, 1951, 1952, and 1954.
