Dirty South (song)
"Dirty South" is a song by American hip hop group Goodie Mob featuring American rappers and fellow Dungeon Family members Big Boi and Cool Breeze. It was released in 1996 via LaFace Records as the third single from Goodie Mob's debut studio album '' Soul Food'' (1995). Recording sessions took place at Purple Dragon Studios and Bosstown Recording Studios in Atlanta. Production was handled by Organized Noize, who also served as executive producers together with Babyface and L.A. Reid. The song popularised the titular phrase, which has since been used to refer to Southern hip hop. The single peaked at number 92 on the ''Billboard'' 200, number 53 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and number 8 on the Hot Rap Songs charts in the United States. Goodie Mob is an American hip hop group based in Atlanta, Georgia, consisting of CeeLo Green, Khujo, T-Mo, and Big Gipp. History The group was formed in 1991 by Cameron " Big Gipp" Gipp, Willie "Khujo" Knighton Jr., CeeLo Green (born Thomas Callaway), and Robert " T-Mo" Barnett in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1995, Goodie Mob released their debut album, ''Soul Food'', which was critically acclaimed and certified Gold. The album aired social and political issues such as racism, discrimination, geopolitics, and gentrification. Their debut single "Cell Therapy" reached number 39 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and also topped the ''Billboard'' Hot Rap Singles chart. Kenneth Brian Edmonds (born April 10, 1959), better known by his stage name Babyface, is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He has written and produced over 26 number-one R&B hits throughout his career and has won 12 Grammy Awards. He was ranked number 20 on '' NME'' 50 of The Greatest Producers Ever list. Kawan "KP" Prather (born March 30, 1973) is an American record executive, songwriter, record producer and member of first generation Dungeon Family group P.A. He started his career at LaFace Records and has worked with TLC, OutKast, Goodie Mob, Usher, John Legend, Pink, and Toni Braxton. At LaFace he also started his own label called Ghet-O-Vision Entertainment. Under Ghet-O-Vision he signed The YoungBloodZ and a solo M.C., named T.I. and released the albums ''Against Da Grain'' and ''I'm Serious''. Neal H Pogue is an American producer, audio engineer and mixer originally from Roselle, New Jersey, and based in Los Angeles. Pogue is a multi-time Grammy Award winner, having first won for his engineering and mixing work on Outkast's ''Speakerboxxx/The Love Below'' (2004) – which won the Album of the Year category, and his audio mixing work on Tyler, The Creator's Igor & Call Me If You Get Lost – which both records won the Best Rap Album category respectively in 2020 & 2022. He is best known for being a member of Southern hip hop quartet Goodie Mob. He is also one-half of the hip hop duo the Lumberjacks (with fellow Goodie Mob groupmate Khujo), and a member of hip hop collective Dungeon Family. Khujo
Willie Edward Knighton Jr. (born March 13, 1972), better known as Khujo, is an American rapper. He is one-fourth of Goodie Mob (along with T-Mo, Cee-Lo, and Big Gipp), and one-half of The Lumberjacks (with T-Mo). Life and career Khujo was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He is the only featured guest to appear on every single Outkast album, including Big Boi's solo album. Khujo has released a new book titled "Straight out the A" that focuses on his life and the development of the Dirty South movement from OutKast to Goodie Mob. Khujo is a very spiritual man known for his distinct, grunty voice and free-flowing rhyming style. He rhymes about all aspects of street life, often intertwining those subject with God metaphorically or directly. Thomas DeCarlo Callaway - Burton (born May 30, 1975), known professionally as CeeLo Green (or Cee Lo Green), is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, record producer and actor.
