Directorate General Defence Estates
The Directorate General, Defence Estates (abbreviate as: DGDE) is the main Indian regulatory and advisory body that provides inputs on matters of Cantonments and defence land matters to the Ministry of Defence and service headquarters i.e, Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force and other organizations under Ministry of Defence of Government of India. DGDE is the headquarters of the Indian Defence Estates Service. Functions of DGDE The main responsibilities of DGDE are acquisition of lands, resettlement and rehabilitation of displaced persons, and hiring and requisitioning of lands and buildings. Dalhousie Cantonment
Dalhousie cantonment is a town in Dalhousie, just 50 km from Chamba town in Chamba district in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. History In 1851, the British Government approached the Chamba State authorities to set up a sanatorium for Europeans. The state cooperated fully, and a site was chosen on the western edge of the Dhauladhar range by Colonel Napier (later Lord Napier of Magdala). After studying the climate, the Government approved the plan in 1853 and transferred five plateaux from Chamba State—Katalagh, Potrain, Terah, Bakrota, and Bhangor—for this purpose. In return, the annual tribute paid by Chamba was reduced by ₹2,000. Almora
Almora ( Kumaoni: ') is a municipal corporation and a cantonment town in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It is the administrative headquarters of Almora district. Almora is located on a ridge at the southern edge of the Kumaon Hills of the Himalaya range. Jalandhar Cantonment is a cantonment town in Jalandhar District in the Indian state of Punjab. The Cantonment is located between latitude 30° 18' and longitude 75° 37' on the southwest and at a distance of 2 km from Cantonment Railway Station and 5 km from City Railway Station. Ferozepur Cantonment, also known as Firojpur Cantonment and Firojepur Cantonment, is a cantonment town in Firozpur district in the state of Punjab, India.
