Diplecogaster Bimaculata
''Diplecogaster bimaculata'', the two-spotted clingfish, is a species of fish in the family Gobiesocidae found in Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean where it is found on rocks and among seagrass or shell beds. Description The species has pelvic fins modified to create a sucker which is used for clinging to rocks or other hard surfaces. It shows variable colouration and its body is frequently coloured red and is spotted with violet, blue, brown or yellow, and they have a yellowish ventral surface. They are sexually dimorphic and the males show a purple spot, surrounded by yellow, immediately to the rear of their pectoral fin. It has a flattened body and a small head, which is roughly triangular in shape. The single dorsal and anal fin are situated posteriorly near to the tail and both are separate from the caudal fin which sits at the end of a long caudal peduncle. Diplecogaster Tonstricula
''Diplecogaster tonstricula'', commonly known as the Eastern Atlantic cleaner clingfish, is a species of clingfish from the family Gobiesocidae, which is found in the tropical eastern North Atlantic Ocean. It has been observed cleaning larger species of fish. Description ''Diplecogaster tonstricula'', in life, displays a normal ground colour of bright orange on the head and body, adorned with thin yellowish or whitish bars that originate between the eyes. The colouration of the head, extending to the front of the eyes, appears as pale olive with whitish streaks. The eye itself is pale green with brown barring towards the rear, accompanied by a yellow ring encircling the iris. Notably, there is a white spot with black margins resembling an eye located on the cheek. The fins are orange. In terms of its shape, this species exhibits the characteristic triangular head, elongated body, and small dorsal and anal fins positioned toward the rear, as often seen in clingfishes. Gobiesocidae
Clingfishes are fishes of the family Gobiesocidae, the only family in the order Gobiesociformes. These fairly small to very small fishes are widespread in tropical and temperate regions, mostly near the coast, but a few species in deeper seas or fresh water. Most species shelter in shallow reefs or seagrass beds, clinging to rocks, algae and seagrass leaves with their sucking disc, a structure on their chest. They are generally too small to be of interest to fisheries, although the relatively large '' Sicyases sanguineus'' regularly is caught as a food fish, and some of the other species occasionally appear in the marine aquarium trade. Alec Frederick Fraser-Brunner
Alec Frederick Fraser-Brunner (born 6 April 1906—died 17 Sept 1986) was a British ichthyologist. His career included work with the Colonial Office, the Food and Agriculture Organization, and as the curator of the Van Kleef Aquarium in Singapore and the aquarium at Edinburgh Zoo. Amongst his written works is ''Cussons Book of Tropical Fishes'', published as result of Manchester industrialist Alexander Tom Cussons' interest in tropical fish. Cussons had a keen interest in orchids. The hot-houses in which he grew them proved to be well-suited to tropical fish aquariums.
