Stio is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy. As of 2016, its population was 872. History The village was founded in the beginnings of the 11th century. The origin of the name is debated, and it has been supposed it could derive from the Latin word ''Ostium'' ("entrance"), or others. Geography Located in the middle of Cilento, and part of its national park, Stio is a hilltown near the springs of Alento river and the forest area of Pruno. Gallo Language
Gallo is a regional language of eastern Brittany. It is one of the langues d'oïl, a Romance sub-family that includes French. Today it is spoken only by a minority of the population, as the standard form of French now predominates in this area. Gallo was originally spoken in the Marches of Neustria, an area now corresponding to the border lands between Brittany, Normandy, and Maine.
