Dina Rizk Khoury
Dina Rizk Khoury is a Lebanese-American historian, Guggenheim Fellow, Professor of History and International Affairs, at George Washington University and former President of the Middle East Studies Association of North America. She graduated from the American University of Beirut with a B.A., from Georgetown University with a Ph.D. She is a lecturer for the MESA Lectureship Program. She spoke at Iraq Action Days. Middle East Studies Association Of North America
Middle East Studies Association (often referred to as MESA) is a learned society, and according to its website, "a non-profit association that fosters the study of the Middle East, promotes high standards of scholarship and teaching, and encourages public understanding of the region and its peoples through programs, publications and services that enhance education, further intellectual exchange, recognize professional distinction, and defend academic freedom". Some critics have accused MESA of politicization and being dominated by academics critical of Israel and the United States. Guggenheim Fellow
Guggenheim Fellowships are grants that have been awarded annually since by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, endowed by the late Simon and Olga Hirsh Guggenheim. These awards are bestowed upon individuals who have demonstrated distinguished accomplishment in the past and potential for future achievement. The recipients exhibit outstanding aptitude for prolific scholarship or exceptional talent in the arts. The foundation holds two separate competitions each year: * One open to citizens and permanent residents of the United States and Canada. * The other to citizens and permanent residents of Latin America and the Caribbean.
