Dimitrios Makris (politician)
Dimitrios "''Takos''" Makris (, 1910 – 10 March 1981) was a Greek conservative politician and close associate of Prime Minister Constantine Karamanlis. Life Dimitrios Makris was an Aromanian. He was born in Florina, which was at the time part of the Ottoman Empire, in 1910. After graduating in Law from Athens University, he worked as a lawyer in Thessaloniki. He served as a Member of Parliament representing Florina Prefecture from 1956 to 1967, and from 1974 to 1977. He served as Interior Minister from 1956 to 1961, and as Minister for the Presidency of the Government from 1961 to 1963. In 1960 he was accused of being a Nazi collaborator during World War II (the so-called "Merten affair"), which he denied, but from that point onward he was constantly under attack by the press. Constantine Karamanlis
Konstantinos G. Karamanlis (, ; 8 March 1907 – 23 April 1998) was a Greek statesman who was the four-time Prime Minister of Greece and two-term president of the Third Hellenic Republic. A towering figure of Greek politics, his political career spanned portions of seven decades, covering much of the latter half of the 20th century. Born near Serres in Macedonia, Karamanlis practiced law until his election to the Hellenic Parliament in 1936 as a member of the conservative People's Party. Rising through the ranks of Greek politics after World War II, Karamanlis became Minister of Labour in 1947, and in 1951 he was named Minister for Public Works in Alexandros Papagos's Greek Rally administration. He was appointed prime minister by King Paul of Greece after Papagos's death in 1955. New Democracy (Greece) Politicians
New Democracy, or the New Democratic Revolution, is a type of democracy in Marxism, based on Mao Zedong's Bloc of Four Social Classes theory in post-revolutionary China which argued originally that democracy in China would take a path that was decisively distinct from that in any other country. He also said every colonial or semi-colonial country would have its own unique path to democracy, given that particular country's own social and material conditions. Mao labeled representative democracy in the Western world as Old Democracy, characterizing parliamentarianism as just an instrument to promote the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie or the land-owning class through manufacturing consent.
