Digital Economy Promotion Agency
The Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) () is public organization of the Thai Ministry of Digital Economy and Society that supports the development of Thailand's digital economy. Operations Smart city initiatives DEPA launched the smart city ambassadors (SCA) program to development smart cities alongside local agencies. As of 2023, Thailand has over 100 smart cities under development, an increase from 27 at the launch of the national smart nation framework in 2019. In September 2024, DEPA announced that four southern provinces and cities in China are collaborating to develop smart cities. Part of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the collaboration aims to develop soft digital infrastructure, including submarine cables and constructing laser centers. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (Abbreviation, Abrv: MDES; , ), formerly known as the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT), , is a List of government ministries of Thailand, cabinet ministry of Thailand. MICT was established on 3 October 2002 by the Administrative Reorganisation Act, 2002.
