Dieser Traum Darf Niemals Sterben
Germany was represented by six-member group Atlantis 2000, with the song "Dieser Traum darf niemals sterben", at the 1991 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 4 May in Rome. "Dieser Traum darf niemals sterben" was the winner of the German national final, held on 21 March. Before Eurovision Ein Lied für Rom The final was held at the Friedrichstadtpalast in Berlin, hosted by Hape Kerkeling. Ten songs took part and the winner was chosen by a panel of 1,000 people, selected as providing a representative cross-section of the German public, who were telephoned and asked to choose their favourite song. One of the other participants was Cindy Berger, who had represented Germany at Eurovision in 1974 as half of duo Cindy & Bert. Atlantis 2000
Atlantis 2000 was a short-lived German musical group, set up in Munich in 1990 by producer and singer Alfons Weindorf and composer Helmut Frey, for the purpose of entering the German Eurovision Song Contest selection in 1991. The group consisted of Weindorf and Frey with Jutta Niedhardt, Eberhard Wilhelm, Klaus Pröpper and Clemens Weindorf (brother of Alfons Weindorf). On 21 March 1991, Atlantis 2000 took part in the Eurovision selection with the Weindorf and Frey penned "Dieser Traum darf niemals sterben" ("This Dream Must Never Die"), which emerged the winner of the 10 songs. It was not a popular choice with some audience members, who responded with audible signs of disapproval. 1991 Eurovision Song Contest
The Eurovision Song Contest 1991 was the 36th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Rome, Italy, following the country's victory at the with the song " Insieme: 1992" by Toto Cutugno and was organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Radiotelevisione Italiana (RAI). The contest was held at Studio 15 di Cinecittà on 4 May 1991 and was hosted by former Italian winners Gigliola Cinquetti and Toto Cutugno. Twenty-two countries took part in the contest with participating for the first time since , and the deciding not to participate. This contest was also the last time that the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia participated, the country would soon be split up opening up new countries to participate in the coming years. Hape Kerkeling
Hans Peter Wilhelm "Hape" Kerkeling (; born 9 December 1964) is a German comedian, TV presenter, author, and actor. Career At secondary school in Recklinghausen, Hape Kerkeling and some fellow students formed a band (''Gesundfutter'', meaning: health food) and published a record (''Hawaii''). Kerkeling started his career as a comedian in radio, working for various German broadcasting companies, such as WDR and BR. His breakthrough came in 1984/85 when, still aged only 19, he got a role in the ''Känguru'' television comedy show (the German word for ''kangaroo'' deliberately spelt without an "h" at the end although this broke the spelling rules at that time). Cindy and Bert were a German schlager vocal duo from Völklingen, Saarland consisting of Jutta Gusenberger (born 26 January 1948) and Norbert Berger (12 September 1945 – 14 July 2012). They were most successful in the 1970s, and are known for their participation in the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest. Early career Gusenberger and Berger started singing together in 1965, and were married in 1967. They signed a recording contract in 1969, with singles being regularly issued, notably "Der Hund von Baskerville", an unlikely cover version of Black Sabbath's " Paranoid" which has become a collector's curiosity. Their most successful period came between 1972 and 1975 when they placed eight singles on the German chart, including their biggest hit "Immer wieder Sonntags" which reached #3. Luis Rodríguez (producer)
Luis Rodríguez Salazar (born 1948) is a Spanish music producer, arranger, mixer and engineer, known by his role in the co-production of German pop duo Modern Talking. He was also involved up to the 1990s in most of Dieter Bohlen's productions, including C. C. Catch and Blue System, working as co-producer. Biography Rodriguez was born in Fuente el Fresno, Ciudad Real, Spain in 1948. He started at age 12 playing the guitar and playing in the streets. He started as bassist and guitarist in the band Los Esclavos, performing at a flamenco club in Hamburg. When he started to sing he experimented with 2 microphones, one dry without effect s and one with delay and echo. He would do 2-track recordings from the age of 17. He got a gig as DJ and was able to by an 8-track and make more demos. He went to school to become a music technician.
