Diego Calderón
Diego Armando Calderón Espinoza (born October 26, 1986, in Quito) is an Ecuadorian footballer. He was part of the squad who won the 2008 Copa Libertadores with Liga de Quito. Club career Calderón participated in L.D.U. Quito's campaign in the Copa Libertadores 2008. He made great defensive displays against many of Liga's opponents. However, he sustained an injury during the Round of 16 and was replaced by Renán Calle for the rest of the tournament. His team became the first Ecuadorian team to win the Copa Libertadores. Calderón again became a regular starter during Liga's campaign in the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup. He played both games against Pachuca and Manchester United. Although Liga was able to defeat Pachuca 2–0 in the semifinals, they lost the final to Manchester United, 1–0. He and the rest of his team had a good, solid performance throughout the tournament. The 2005 Campeonato Ecuatoriano de Fútbol de la Serie A 2005, known as 2005 Copa Pílsener Serie A for sponsorship reasons, was the 48th season of the Serie A, the top level of professional football in Ecuador. The season was divided into two tournaments, called the Apertura and Clausura, with the winner of each earning separate national titles. The Primera Categoría Serie B, shortened to Serie B or Primera B, is a professional football league in Ecuador. It is in the second tier of the Ecuadorian football league system. Currently contested by ten clubs, it operates a system of promotion and relegation with the top-flight Serie A and the bottom-level Segunda Categoría. The season runs from February to December in two stages. For sponsorship reasons, it is known as the LigaPro Banco Pichincha Pymes. The 2010 Recopa Sudamericana de Clubes was a two-legged tie that determined the winner of the Recopa Sudamericana, an annual football match between the winners of the previous season's Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana competitions. It was contested between Argentine club Estudiantes de La Plata and LDU Quito from Ecuador. The first leg was played on August 25 in Quito, while the second leg was played in Quilmes due to Estadio Ciudad de La Plata was undergoing renovations. The 2009 Copa Sudamericana de Clubes (officially the 2009 Copa Nissan Sudamericana de Clubes for sponsorship reasons) is the 8th edition of the CONMEBOL's secondary international club tournament. The CONMEBOL Sudamericana, named as ''Copa Sudamericana'' (; pt, Copa Sul-Americana ), is an annual international club football competition organized by CONMEBOL since 2002.
