Dickson Chumba
Dickson Kiptolo Chumba (born 27 October 1986) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in marathon races. He has won the Rome, Eindhoven, Tokyo, and Chicago marathons and has a personal best of 2:04:32 for the distance. Career Born in Kenya's Nandi District, Chumba worked as a gardener until he decided to focus on running professionally. He began working with Claudio Berardelli in Kapsabet in 2008. His first marathon outings came in 2010 and he was runner-up at both the Madrid Marathon and the Italian Marathon. His first win came in March 2011 when he ran a personal best of 2:08:45 hours to claim the Rome City Marathon title ahead of defending champion Siraj Gena. He was faster still at the Frankfurt Marathon in October, running 2:07:23, although the close to world record pace meant he finished seventh. 2018 Tokyo Marathon
The 2018 Tokyo Marathon ( ja, 東京マラソン 2018) was the twelfth edition of the annual marathon race in Tokyo and was held on Sunday, 25 February. An IAAF Gold Label Road Race, it was the first World Marathon Majors event to be held that year. The men's race was won by Dickson Chumba in 2:05:30 hours while the women's race was won by Birhane Dibaba in 2:19:51. The men's runner-up Yuta Shitara set a Japanese national record time of 2:06:11 hours. This was also an Asian record. The host nation featured prominently in the men's race, with two runners in the top five and six of the top ten being Japanese. The 2015 Tokyo Marathon ( ja, 東京マラソン 2015) was the ninth edition of the annual marathon race in Tokyo, Japan and was held on Sunday, 22 February. An IAAF Gold Label Road Race, it was the first World Marathon Majors event to be held that year and represented the third occasion that the Tokyo race was part of the elite-level marathon series. The elite race winners were both from Ethiopia – the first such time that athletes from the same nation won the men's and women's division.
