Dick Roth
Richard William Roth (born September 26, 1947) is an American former competition swimming (sport), swimmer, Olympic champion, and former world record-holder in two events. High school swimming Roth set his first age group record in swimming at age 12. In high school he swam for Menlo-Atherton High School, Menlo-Atherton where he won eight Southern Pacific Athletic League High School Conference titles under Coach Robert K. Medley Swimming
Medley swimming is a combination of four different swimming (sport), swimming strokes (Freestyle swimming, freestyle (usually front crawl), backstroke, breaststroke, Butterfly stroke, butterfly) into one race. This race is either swum by one swimmer as individual medley (IM) or by four swimmers as a medley relay. Individual medley Individual medley consists of a single swimmer swimming equal distances of the four strokes within one race. Stroke order Individual medley consists of four strokes. These four strokes go in an order by Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and finally Freestyle. The swimmer will swim one quarter of the race in each style, in a certain order. Tendinitis
Tendinopathy is a type of tendon disorder that results in pain, swelling, and impaired function. The pain is typically worse with movement. It most commonly occurs around the shoulder ( rotator cuff tendinitis, biceps tendinitis), elbow ( tennis elbow, golfer's elbow), wrist, hip, knee ( jumper's knee, popliteus tendinopathy), or ankle ( Achilles tendinitis). Causes may include an injury or repetitive activities. Less common causes include infection, arthritis, gout, thyroid disease, diabetes and the use of quinolone antibiotic medicines. Groups at risk include people who do manual labor, musicians, and athletes. Diagnosis is typically based on symptoms, examination, and occasionally medical imaging. A few weeks following an injury little inflammation remains, with the underlying problem related to weak or disrupted tendon fibrils. Treatment may include rest, NSAIDs, splinting, and physiotherapy. Andrei Dunayev
Andrey Yevgenyevich Dunayev (; 14 May 1949 – 9 December 2015) is a retired Russian swimmer who won the silver medal in 400 m medley at the 1966 European Aquatics Championships. Next year he set a new European record, and in 1968 a new world record in the same event, but finished only seventh at the 1968 Summer Olympics. Between 1964 and 1968 he won 10 national titles and set 9 national records in the 200 m and 400 m medley and 800 m and 1500 m freestyle events. In the 1990s, he also won national titles in the masters category. Gerhard Hetz
Gerhard Hetz (; 13 July 1942 – 19 May 2012) was a German Olympic swimmer. He competed in the 1960 and 1964 Summer Olympics and won a silver medal in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay and a bronze medal in the 400 m individual medley in 1964. He set two world records in the 400 m individual medley, in 1962 and 1963. In 1962 he was selected as the German Sportspersonality of the Year. After retirement from competitions he became a successful swimming coach at Blau-Weiß Bochum, SSF Bonn (1968–1975) and then SV Rhenania Köln (1975–1991), training such swimmers as Rainer Henkel, Werner Lampe and Peter Sitt. History In its earliest form, ''Junior Swimmer'' began as a mimeograph/newsletter published by Peter Daland in the summer of 1952. ''Swimming World'' Swimmers of the Year is awarded by the American-based ''Swimming World''. There are seven categories: World Swimmer, American Swimmer, European Swimmer, Pacific Rim Swimmer, World Disabled Swimmer, African Swimmer, and Open Water Swimmer of year.
