Dick Reynolds (musician)
Richard Eastis Reynolds was an American musician, bandleader, songwriter, conductor and trombonist who was an arranger for The Four Freshmen. He also arranged for Frank Sinatra and authored "If I Ever Love Again", which Sinatra recorded in 1949. Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys said of Reynolds: "e'sjust about a god to me. His work is the greatest, and the Freshmen's execution is too much." Reynolds was later employed by Wilson for the recording of ''The Beach Boys' Christmas Album'' (1964) and '' Adult/Child'' (unreleased, 1977). Trombone
The trombone (, Italian, French: ''trombone'') is a musical instrument in the Brass instrument, brass family. As with all brass instruments, sound is produced when the player's lips vibrate inside a mouthpiece, causing the Standing wave, air column inside the instrument to vibrate. Nearly all trombones use a telescoping slide mechanism to alter the Pitch (music), pitch instead of the brass instrument valve, valves used by other brass instruments. The valve trombone is an exception, using three valves similar to those on a trumpet, and the superbone has valves and a slide. The Four Freshmen
The Four Freshmen is an American male vocal quartet that blends close and open harmony, open-harmonic jazz arrangements with the big band vocal group sounds of The Modernaires, The Pied Pipers, and The Mel-Tones, founded in the Barbershop music, barbershop tradition. The singers accompany themselves on guitar, horns, bass, and drums, among other instrumental configurations. The group was founded in 1948 in Indiana and reached its peak popularity in the mid-1950s. Ray Anthony (born Raymond Antonini; January 20, 1922) is an American retired bandleader, trumpeter, songwriter and actor. He is the last living member of the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Biography Anthony was born to an Italian family in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania, but moved with his family to Cleveland, Ohio, where he studied the trumpet. The Beach Boys are an American Rock music, rock band formed in Hawthorne, California, in 1961. ''The Beach Boys' Christmas Album'' is the seventh studio album by the American rock band the Beach Boys, released November 9, 1964 on Capitol Records. It contains five original songs and seven standards on a Christmas theme. The album proved to be a long-running success during subsequent Christmas seasons, initially reaching No. 6 on ''Billboards Christmas LP's chart in its initial release and eventually going gold. Music historian James Perone wrote that it is "regarded as one of the finest holiday albums of the rock era". Similar to the release it was meant to follow, ''The Beach Boys Love You'', the album is essentially a semi-autobiographical solo effort by the band's chief songwriter and producer, Brian Wilson.
