Dick O'Gorman
Richard O'Gorman (23 December 1892 – 17 February 1963) was an Irish hurler who played for Cork Championship club Midleton. He played for the Cork senior hurling team for a number of years, during which time he usually lined out in the forwards. Midleton Hurling and Football Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Midleton, County Cork, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club is affiliated to the Imokilly GAA, East Cork Board and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling, but also fields teams in Gaelic football. History Located in the town of Midleton, about 16km from Cork (city), Cork, Midleton Football Club was formally affiliated to the newly-established Gaelic Athletic Association on 17 January 1885. The club had some early successes in winning consecutive Cork Senior Football Championship, Cork SFC titles in 1889 and 1890. The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Championship, is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest-tier competition for inter-county hurling in Ireland and has been contested in every year except one since 1887 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, 1887. The final, formerly held in September, then August and now moved to July, is the culmination of a series of games played during July and August, with the winning team receiving the Liam MacCarthy Cup. Midleton Hurlers
Midleton (; , meaning "monastery at the weir") is a town in south-eastern County Cork, Ireland. It lies approximately 16 km east of Cork City on the Owenacurra River and the N25 road, which connects Cork to the port of Rosslare. A satellite town of Cork City, Midleton is part of Metropolitan Cork. It is the central hub of business for the East Cork Area. The town is in the civil parish of Middleton. Jimmy Kennedy (Cork Hurler)
James Kennedy (16 April 1891 – 13 August 1973) was an Irish hurler who played as a full-forward for the Cork senior team. Raised in Carrigtwohill, County Cork, Kennedy was one of fourteen children born to Michael and Norah Kennedy (née Reed). The son of a victualler, he was educated locally and later worked as a labourer. Kennedy first played competitive hurling as a member of the Carrigtowhill club. He won a Cork Senior Hurling Championship medal in 1918. Kennedy first appeared on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-one when he was selected for the Cork team. He made his debut during the 1912 championship. Over the course of the following fifteen years, Kennedy won two All-Ireland medals, the first as captain of the team in 1919 followed by a second as a non-playing substitute in 1926. The 1919 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 33rd staging of the All-Ireland hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887.
