Dick Diver
Dick Diver is an Australian four-piece indie pop band from Melbourne, Victoria (Australia). The band consists of Rupert Edwards (guitar) and Alistair McKay (guitar), Steph Hughes (drums) and Al Montfort (bass). It took its name from the character Dick Diver in the novel ''Tender Is the Night'' by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Origins and development Dick Diver was formed in 2008, with guitarists Rupert Edwards and Alistair McKay, drummer Steph Hughes (Boomgates) and bassist Al Montfort ( Total Control, UV Race, Lower Plenty et al.). The band have been one of the more successful products of the "New Melbourne Jangle" scene, gaining traction in Australia and overseas. They are also the unwilling pioneers of a joke genre called " dolewave". In 2009, Dick Diver released their debut EP, ''Arks Up''. The Music Victoria Awards of 2015 are the tenth Annual Music Victoria Awards and consist of a series of awards, culminating in an awards ceremony on 11 November 2015. For the first time, the public awards and the genre specific awards, were all presented in one event. Previously known as The Age EG Awards, 2013 was the first year under the title Music Victoria Awards. The Music Victoria Awards (previously known as The Age EG Awards and The Age Music Victoria Awards) are an annual awards night celebrating music from the Australian state of Victoria. They commenced in 2006 and are awarded in Melbourne Music Week between October and December. The awards were initially an exclusively online public voted awards, changing in 2013. The Australian Music Prize (often shortened to the AMP) is an annual award of $50,000 ($30,000 from 2005 to 2023) given to an Australian band or solo artist in recognition of the merit of an album released during the year of award. The award was made by Australian Music Prize Ltd, a sole-purpose entity sponsored by a variety of music industry figures and record companies. The AMP was established in 2005.
