Dichter Der Nederlanden
Dichter der Nederlanden (''Poet of the Netherlands''), previously Dichter des Vaderlands (''Poet of the Fatherland''), is an unofficial title for the Poet laureate of the Netherlands. This position was created by the Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad, the Nederlandse Programma Stichting and the foundation Poetry International in January 2000. The Dichter der Nederlanden's poetry represents the spirit of the Dutch people and culture. the current position holder is Babs Gons. ''NRC'', previously called ' (), is a daily morning newspaper published in the Netherlands by Mediahuis NRC. It is widely regarded as a newspaper of record in the country. History was first published on 1 October 1970 after a merger of the Amsterdam newspaper ' (founded 1828 by J.W. van den Biesen) and the Rotterdam ' (founded 1844 by Henricus Nijgh). Nederlandse Programma Stichting
NPS (Nederlandse Programma Stichting) (English: Dutch Programme Foundation) was a Dutch government-funded radio and TV broadcasting foundation. In the Dutch public broadcasting system, broadcasters – in the Dutch context, listener and viewer associations – do not have their stations but are allotted time on the three public television and eight public radio networks broadly to the size of their respective memberships. The NPS, however, does not have any members. History It was created on 28 April 1994, following a split-up of the responsibilities of the Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS). Gerrit Jan Komrij (30 March 1944 – 5 July 2012) was a Dutch poet, novelist, translator, critic, polemic journalist and playwright. He rose to prominence in the early 1970s, writing poetry that sharply contrasted with the free form poetry, free-form poetry of his contemporaries. He acquired a reputation for his prose in the late 1970s, writing acerbic essays and columns often critical of writers, television programs, and politicians. As a literary criticism, literary critic and especially as an anthologist he had a formative influence on Dutch literature: his 1979 anthology of Dutch poetry of the 19th and 20th centuries, reformed the canon, and was followed by anthologies of Dutch poetry of the 17th and 18th centuries, of Afrikaans poetry, and of children's poetry. Simon Vinkenoog
Simon Vinkenoog (18 July 1928 – 12 July 2009) was a Dutch poet, spoken word poet and writer. He was the editor of the anthology ''Atonaal'' (Atonal), which launched the Dutch "Fifties Movement". In 2004 he was chosen as Dichter des Vaderlands, or "Poet Laureate", for the Netherlands. On 11 July 2009 Vinkenoog was admitted to an Amsterdam hospital after suffering a seizure. He died the following day. Driek Van Wissen
Driek van Wissen (12 July 1943 – 21 May 2010) was a Dutch poet. He was born in Groningen. On 26 January 2005 he was chosen as the ''Dichter des Vaderlands'' (Poet Laureate of the Netherlands), following Gerrit Komrij. In 1987 the Dutch literary magazine '' De Tweede Ronde'' honored him by awarding him the Kees-Stip Prize for his career work and use of light verse. Van Wissen also published under the pen-name Albert Zondervan. He was a teacher in Hoogezand- Sappemeer at the Dr. Aletta Jacobs College from 1968 till 2005. Ramsey Nasr (born 28 January 1974) is a Dutch author and actor of mixed Palestinian and Dutch descent. He was born in Rotterdam. Anne Vegter
Anne Vegter (born 31 December 1958, Delfzijl) is a Dutch poet, playwright, and writer of children's literature. She is the first woman to hold the position of Dichter des Vaderlands (Dutch Poet Laureate). Early life Vegter attended a gymnasium in Drachten and Epe. She studied art history and pedagogy in at the Academie voor Expressie door Woord en Gebaar in Utrecht in the late seventies. In 1976, she worked in a psychiatric institution. In 1977, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Career Poetry and writing In 1989, Vegter published her first children's book ''De dame en de neushoorn'' with illustrations by Geerten Ten Bosch. Ester Naomi Perquin
Ester Naomi Perquin (born 1980) is a Dutch poet. Early life and education Ester Naomi Perquin was born in 1980 in Utrecht and grew up in Zierikzee. She worked in the prison service to pay for her studies at the school of creative writing in Amsterdam. Career Perquin was editor for the literary journal ''Tirade'' and wrote a column for the weekly ''De Groene Amsterdammer''. She was also the city poet for Rotterdam for two years. Lieke Marsman
Lieke Marsman (born 25 July 1990) is a Dutch poet. She was the Dutch Poet Laureate ( Dichter der Nederlanden) for the period 2021 to 2023. Biography Marsman was born in Den Bosch and grew up in Zaltbommel and did her final school exams in 2008 at the Cambium College. After that she studied philosophy at the University of Amsterdam. Her first publications were included in ''De Gids'' and ''Vrij Nederland''. Via a blog on the website ''Tirade.nu'' she commentated and translated the work of her contemporaries.
