Diary (Maldivian Film)
''Diary'' is a 1996 Maldivian drama film written, produced and directed by Mohamed Aboobakuru. The film stars Hassan Afeef, Waleedha Waleed, Mohamed Aboobakuru and Arifa Ibrahim in pivotal roles. Premise Arif (Hassan Afeef), an only child, begins a romantic relationship with Shehenaz (Waleedha Waleed), a well-educated woman. The couple plan their marriage when Arif suspects his best friend, Fayaz (Mohamed Aboobakuru) is deeply in love with Shehenaz. However, Fayaz explains that his secret girlfriend is Saudhiyya who is now engaged to another man. Arif is diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer which has now spread to his liver and he is given six months to live. Arif requests Fayaz to marry Shehenaz and to keep her happy. Hassan Afeef
Hassan Afeef is a Maldivian film actor. He is celebrated as the actor being featured in the first Maldivian film and song. He is also noted to be the actor to have worked with most directors away from home and acted in most films that were shot abroad. Career In late 1979, Hassan Afeef, a cinema-goer used to watch several Bollywood films screened at limited cinemas in Maldives and imitate their acting afterwards among friends and family. A group of Maldivians including Afeef came up with the idea of making a regional film for the Maldivian audience though several obstacles emerged including incapability to secure finance and equipment. However, they were successful in acquiring a small camera which resulted in the first Maldivian song "Noorey Vidhee Moonun Roashan Ujaala" featuring Jim alongside Rahma. Waleedha Waleed
Waleedha Waleed is a Maldivian film actress, choreographer, director, seamstress and politician. Career In 1989, at the age of fourteen, Waleedha Waleed made her screen debut with a video single directed by Musthafa Hussain. She went on to feature in several other video songs and films. Waleed had most recognition for her songs included in the ''Vasmeeru'' album, which was produced by ''Television Maldives''. In an interview with ''Avas'', Waleed mentioned; "What made me go a long way in my career is the belief that people cheer me as a good dancer though I am not trained in any dance style". She then featured in some of the films including Ibrahim Rasheed's '' Loabeege Thoofan'' (1991) opposite Reeko Moosa Manik. Her next appearance came in Ibrahim Rasheed-directed film ''Beyvafaa'' where she plays a blind orphan. Arifa Ibrahim
Arifa Ibrahim (born 22 June 1955) is a Maldivian actress, producer, director and writer. Early life Daughter of late Ibrahim Fulhu and late Fathma Fulhu, Arifa Ibrahim was born on 22 June 1955. She got married at the age of fourteen and is blessed with five daughters and one son. During her early life, Arifa was famous for stencil designing. Career 1984–1999: Early releases In 1993, Arifa starred opposite Ahmed Nimal in his direction, a drama film, ''Sitee''. Based on true incidents occurred to a friend of Nimal, the film focuses on a fisherman who later turns to be a successful businessman and his search for his father. Abdul Hannan Moosa Didi
Abdul Hannan Moosa Didi (13 June 1959) is a Maldivian singer, music composer and producer. Early life and career At the age of seventeen, Didi started performing casually with his friends which helped him develop self-confidence and improve his singing capabilities. In 1977, he was offered a stage performance in a tourist resort to celebrate one of their occasions, which resulted in him getting several offers. During the time, he was more keen to perform English language songs than Hindustani classical songs. Apart from singing, he has also contributed to the industry by composing original music and tracks for films, albums and events. Fathimath Zoona (20 October 1965) is a Maldivian singer and a recipient of several awards including one Gaumee Film Award and one Aafathis Award. Early life and career Fathimath Zoona was born on 20 October 1965 in Male'. During her childhood days, she frequently listened to old Bollywood songs and decided to pursue a career in music industry.
