Diana Anderson (scientist)
Diana Anderson is a British biomedical scientist who is a professor at the University of Bradford. Her research has focussed on early cancer detection and genome stability. She was appointed an Order of the British Empire in 2022 for her services to cancer detection. Early life and education Anderson was an undergraduate student at the University of Wales, where she specialised in biology. She moved to the University of Manchester for graduate studies and completed a master's degree in 1971. She remained at Manchester for doctoral research, and in 1973 completed her PhD in oncology. Research and career In 1974, Anderson was appointed Head of Mutagenesis Studies at the Imperial Chemical Industries Central Toxicology Laboratory. She worked with the laboratory to identify the relationship between cancer in employees and the plastic with which they were working. The University of Bradford is a public research university located in the city of Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. A plate glass university, it received its royal charter in 1966, making it the 40th university to be created in Britain, but can trace its origins back to the establishment of the industrial West Yorkshire town's Mechanics Institute in 1832. Yorkshire Forward was the regional development agency (RDA) for the Yorkshire and the Humber region of the United Kingdom. 2022 New Year Honours
The 2022 New Year Honours are appointments by some of the 15 Commonwealth realms to various orders and honours to recognise and reward good works by citizens of those countries. The New Year Honours are awarded as part of the New Year celebrations at the start of January and those for 2022 were announced on 31 December 2021.
