Diamanten
Diamanten ("The Diamond") or Oksenøyveien 3 is an office building located at Fornebu in Bærum, Norway. It was built in 1985 as the head office of the airline Braathens SAFE, and later became the head office of SAS Braathens before the merger with Scandinavian Airlines. As of April 1, 2010, it has been the head office of Norwegian Air Shuttle. Facilities The building is , of which office space accounts for . It runs over three stories and has 177 parking spaces. It has a glass façade and is built in a postmodernist style, with the various annexes shaped like diamonds. History When Braathens SAFE was informed they had to leave their rented offices at Ruseløkkveien 26, the company decided to build a new head office near Oslo Airport, Fornebu. SAS Braathens
SAS Braathens was the name of Norway's largest airline, created by a merger between Scandinavian Airlines' Norwegian division and Braathens ASA, Braathens in 2004. On 1 June 2007, the airline was integrated into mainline SAS, and changed its name to SAS Scandinavian Airlines Norge. The airline operated from its hub at Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, and was also the largest national branch of Scandinavian Airlines. Braathens ASA, until 1997 Braathens South American & Far East Airtransport A/S and trading as Braathens SAFE, was a Norway, Norwegian airline which operated from 1946 until it merged with Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) in 2004 to become SAS Braathens. For most of its history, Braathens was the largest domestic airline in Norway, but did not operate an international network for many years. Fornebu
Fornebu (local form ''Fornebo'') is a peninsular area in the suburban municipality of Bærum in Norway, bordering western parts of Oslo. Oslo Airport, Fornebu (FBU) served as the main airport for Oslo and the country since before World War II and until the evening of October 7, 1998, when it was closed down. Overnight, a grand moving operation was performed, so that the following morning, the new main airport, located inland at Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, Gardermoen (OSL), opened for operations as the main airport, as opposed to previously having been a minor airport. As of 2001, the Fornebu area is being developed as a centre for information technology and telecommunications, telecom industry, as well as there being some housing project developments nearby. Bjørn Kjos
Bjørn Kjos (born 18 July 1946) is a Norwegian aviator, lawyer, and business magnate. He is best known as the founder and CEO of Norwegian Air Shuttle, briefly Scandinavia's largest airline, and Europe's third largest low-cost airline. Early life and education Kjos was born and grew up in Sokna in Ringerike. In 1953, his father Ola started the airline Norsk Skogbruksfly, and bought a Piper Cub. After serving as a paratrooper with the Norwegian Army, Kjos enrolled at the Norwegian Air Force Academy. He became a trained pilot in the Royal Norwegian Air Force during two years of training in Mississippi and Arizona in the United States, and flew Lockheed F-104 Starfighter and Northrop F-5 from 1969 to 1975.
