Diamante (Zucchero Fornaciari Song)
"Diamante " is a 1989 song composed by Francesco De Gregori (lyrics), Zucchero Fornaciari, Mino Vergnaghi and (music) and performed by Zucchero Fornaciari. Background The song, a portrait of the Italian post-war and of the ordinary life in the Po Valley countryside of the time, is dedicated to Diamante Arduini Fornaciari, the grandmother of the singer. Zucchero asked his friend De Gregori to write the lyrics as he feared to be overly involved, and to compose something corny. A track of the 1989 album '' Oro Incenso & Birra'', the song was first released as a single in 1990, and was re-released in 1991 in an English-language duet version with Randy Crawford, which was included on Crawford's 1992 album '' Through the Eyes of Love''. In 1994, Zucchero recorded a Spanish-language version of the song, with lyrics translated and adapted by Fito Páez. Adelmo Fornaciari (; born 25 September 1955), more commonly known by his stage name Zucchero Fornaciari or simply Zucchero (), is an Italian singer, musician and songwriter. His stage name is the Italian word for "sugar", as his elementary teacher used to call him. His music is largely inspired by gospel, soul, blues and rock music, and alternates between Italian ballads and more rhythmic R&B- boogie-like pieces. He is credited as the "father of Italian blues", introducing blues to the big stage in Italy. He is one of the few European blues artists who still enjoys great international success. Fabio Concato (born Fabio Piccaluga, 31 May 1953 in Milan) is an Italian singer-songwriter. Life and career Born Fabio Piccaluga in Milan, the son of a jazz musician and a poet, Concato started his career with the cabaret group "I mormoranti", performing at the Derby Club in his hometown. He debuted as a singer-songwriter with the album ''Storie di sempre'', which included a minor hit in the form of ''A Dean Martin''. Concato's popularity received a big boost in 1982 with the song ''Una domenica bestiale'', which became a major hit in the Italian charts. The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data.
