Benjamin Franklin Dial (May 21, 1943 – April 5, 2001) was an American professional football quarterback who played one season with the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the thirteenth round of the 1966 NFL draft after playing college football at Eastern New Mexico University. Dial was also a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League, as well as teams from various other leagues. Gilbert Leroy "Buddy" Dial (January 17, 1937 – February 29, 2008) was an American professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at Rice University. Early life Dial was born on January 17, 1937, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to Lee and Martha (Brown) Dial, but grew up in Magnolia, Texas. He attended Magnolia High School, where he played six-man football, while being a three-time All-District end and linebacker. He helped his team achieve district titles in his junior and senior years, although they lost the class B regional championship to Sugar Land High School in 1953 and to Barbers Hill High School in 1954. During his pro club career, he played four seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Joe Dial (born October 26, 1962, in Marlow, Oklahoma) is a retired American pole vaulter, best known for winning the bronze medal at the 1989 World Indoor Championships in Budapest. His personal best was 5.96 metres, achieved in June 1987 in Norman, Oklahoma. While competing for Marlow High School, he was ''Track and Field News'' "High School Athlete of the Year" in 1981. Since retiring from the sport, Dial has turned to coaching. He was the head coach of the men's and women's track and cross country programs at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma from 1993-2022. During his tenure at ORU, he coached 50 All-Americans and turned ORU into a powerhouse in the Mid-Continent Conference.
