Dhirendra Mehta
Dhirendra Pritamlal Mehta is a Gujarati novelist, poet, critic and editor who received the 2010 Sahitya Akademi Award for Gujarati language for his novel ''Chhavni''. Life Dhirendra Mehta was born in Ahmedabad on 29 August 1944. His family belonged to Bhuj. At the age of four, he suffered from poliomyelitis in both his legs. He matriculated from Alfred High School, Bhuj in 1961. He completed B. A. in Gujarati with first class in 1966. In 1968, he completed M. A. in Gujarati and Hindi from School of Languages, Gujarat University. In 1976, he received Ph.D. for his dissertation, ''Gujarātī Navalakathānō Upēyalakṣī Abhyāsa''. He briefly worked at Akashvani, Bhuj and later joined H. K. Arts College as Research Fellow. He taught Gujarati literature as a Head of the Department in Gujarat College, Ahmedabad from 1970 to 1976. Jayant Khatri
Jayant Heerji Khatri (1909-1968) was a Gujarati short story writer. Life Jayant Khatri was born to Heerji Hansraj Khatri and Jayaben on 24 September 1909 at Mundra, Kutch, Gujarat, India. His father was a government doctor of Cutch State. He completed his primary education from Bhuj and secondary school education from New Bharda Highschool, Mumbai. He matriculated in 1928. He received L.C.P.S. from National Medical College, Mumbai in 1935 and started his medical practice. He later moved to Mandvi. He had close association with labors in Bhuj and Mumbai. He also served as a president of Navik Mandal, Mandvi (Seafarers Association) and later Mandvi Municipality. He died on 6 June 1968 at Mandvi due to cancer. Personal life He married Bachuben from Morjar village in 1929. After death of her first wife, he married his sister-in-law in 1935. Mohan Parmar ( gu, મોહન પરમાર b. 15 March 1948) is a Gujarati language short story writer, novelist and critic. Parmar won the Sahitya Akademi Award for Gujarati in 2011 for his short story collection ''Anchalo''. Shirish Jagjivandas Panchal (born 7 March 1943) is a Gujarati critic, fiction writer, translator and editor. He won the 2009 Sahitya Akademi Award for Gujarati language for his criticism ''Vaat Aapanaa Vivechan-ni''. He refused the award. Biography Panchal was born on 7 March 1943 in Vadodara. He passed his secondary and higher secondary board exams in 1978 and 1981 respectively. He completed his B.A. with Gujarati from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. After completing his M.A. in the same subject from the same university in 1966, he researched ''Poetic Criticism'' under the guidance of Suresh Joshi in 1980. Panchal received a PhD for his dissertation ''Kavyavivechan Ni Samasyao'' (). He was a professor at Bilimora's College from 1965 to 1967 and at Padra's College from 1967 to 1980.
