Pinarayi Vijayan
Pinarayi Vijayan (; born 24 May 1945) is an Indian politician who has served as the List of chief ministers of Kerala, Chief Minister of Kerala since 25 May 2016. A member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), politburo of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)), he is the longest-serving secretary of the Kerala State Committee of the CPI(M) (1998–2015). He has also served as Minister of Electric Power and Co-operatives during Third Nayanar ministry, the third E. K. Nayanar ministry. Edakkad (State Assembly Constituency)
Edakkad was one of the 140 state legislative assembly constituencies in Kerala state in southern India, before the 2008 delimitation of constituencies. It was one of the seven state legislative assembly constituencies included in Kannur Lok Sabha constituency until the 2008 delimitation. The last election to the constituency was conducted in 2006, and the MLA was Kadannappalli Ramachandran of Congress (Secular). After the delimitation in 2008, Chelora, Edakkad, and Munderi Gram Panchayats became a part of Kannur Assembly constituency, whereas Anjarakkandy, Chembilode, Kadambur, Muzhappilangad, and Peralasseri were added to the newly formed Dharmadam Assembly constituency. 2016 Kerala Legislative Assembly Election
The 2016 Kerala Legislative Assembly election was held on 16 May 2016 to elect 140 MLA (India), MLAs to the 14th Kerala Legislative Assembly. Voter turnout was 77.53%, up from 75.12% in the previous election. The result was declared on 19 May 2016. The Left Democratic Front (Kerala), Left Democratic Front (LDF), led by Communist Party of India (Marxist), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)), won the election, defeating the incumbent United Democratic Front (Kerala), United Democratic Front (UDF), led by the Indian National Congress, Indian National Congress (INC), which could only win 47 seats in the election. Pinarayi
Pinarayi is a census town in Kannur district in the Indian state of Kerala. Geography Pinarayi is from the district headquarters Kannur. The nearest town and railway station is Thalassery which is away. The village is surrounded by rivers on three sides, and the remaining boundaries consist of five panchayats: Kadirur, Dharmadom, Peralasseri, Vengad, Kottayam and Eranholi. The Arabian Sea is just away. For administrational purposes the panchayat is divided into two villages Eruvatti and Pinarayi. Thalassery () (also called Tellicherry) is a city and municipality on the Malabar Coast in Kannur district in the state of Kerala, India, bordered by the districts of Mahe and Kozhikode.
