Dhanya Rajendran
Dhanya Rajendran is an Indian journalist and the co-founder and editor-in-chief of ''The News Minute''. She previously worked with ''Times Now'' and ''The New Indian Express''. Career Dhanya Rajendran started her career by working for Kerala's first 24-hour news channel India Vision in 2003. In 2004, she moved to New Indian Express in Chennai. She subsequently moved to working for Times Now as a reporter in 2005 and went on to become its bureau chief of South India. Along with her husband Vignesh Vellore and Chitra Subramaniam, she then went on to co-found ''The News Minute'', a digital news website focussing on the news coverage of the southern states of India in 2014. Dhanya is also a member of The Network for Women in Media, India. Facing online harassment as a woman journalist Rajendran has often had to face online harassment on account of her work. The News Minute
''The News Minute'' is an Indian digital news platform based in Bangalore, Karnataka. It was founded by Dhanya Rajendran, Chitra Subramaniam and Vignesh Vellore in 2014. Apart from Karnataka, it also has bureaus in the states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Sabarimala
The Sabarimala Temple (; ml, ശബരിമല ക്ഷേത്രം) is a temple complex located at Sabarimala hill inside the Periyar Tiger Reserve in the Perinad Village, Pathanamthitta district, Kerala, India. It is one of the largest annual pilgrimage sites in the world with an estimate of over 10 to 15 million devotees visiting every year. The temple is dedicated to a Hindu ''Brahmachari'' (Celibate) deity Ayyappan also known as ''Dharma Shasta'', who according to belief is the son of Shiva and Mohini, the feminine incarnation of Vishnu. The traditions of Sabarimala are a confluence of Shaivism, Vaishnavism, and other Śramaṇa traditions. Me Too Movement
#MeToo is a social movement against sexual abuse, sexual harassment, and rape culture, in which people publicize their experiences of sexual abuse or sexual harassment. The phrase "Me Too" was initially used in this context on social media in 2006, on Myspace, by sexual assault survivor and activist Tarana Burke. Harvard University published a case study on Burke, called "Leading with Empathy: Tarana Burke and the Making of the Me Too Movement" (2020). The hashtag ''#MeToo'' was used starting in 2017 as a way to draw attention to the magnitude of the problem. Presstitute
Presstitute is a term that references journalists and 'talking heads' in mainstream media who give biased and predetermined views misleadingly tailored to fit a particular partisan, financial or business agenda, thus neglecting the fundamental duty to report news impartially. Coined by American researcher Gerald Celente, the word is a portmanteau of ''press'' and ''prostitute''. The term became popular in the social media after General Vijay Kumar Singh, the former Chief of Army Staff and Indian Union Minister of State for External Affairs, began referring to a section of the media as "presstitutes" in his tweets in 2015. Nithyananda, (born Arunachalam Rajasekaran; 1 January 1978) known among followers as Nithyananda Paramashivam or Paramahamsa Nithyananda, is an Indian Hindu guru, " godman" and cult leader. He is subject of an Interpol Blue notice and a court-issued non-bailable warrant relating to allegations of rape. He is the founder of the trust Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam, which has temples, gurukulas, and ashrams in many countries.
