Dhamara Fishing Harbour is an international standard Harbour. The Harbour is located in the North Bank of Dhamra River in the revenue village Dhamara, Dist. Bhadrak. It has become the first harbour certified by Export Inspection Agency (EIA) in the state following approval of the Export Inspection Council (EIC), India and meets the Euro standard fish food as specified by European Union. The major species landing in the jetties are (i) Pomfret (ii) Shrimps (iii) Bombay Duck (iv) Hilsha (v) Mackerel (vi) Johnius (Vii) Ribbon fish (Viii) Megalops (ix) Borei etc. These species have high demand both in National and International market. Dhamara is a Town and Notified Area Council In the Bhadrak district of Odisha state, India. Dhamara was constituted as an Nagar panchayat, NAC on 13 March 2024. Tarpon are fish of the genus ''Megalops''. They are the only members of the family Megalopidae. Ribbonfish
The ribbonfish are any lampriform fishes in the family Trachipteridae. There are about 10 recognized species in the family. These pelagic fish are named for their slim, ribbon-like appearance. They are rarely seen alive, as they typically live in deep waters, though are not bottom feeders. The perciform fish known as the red bandfish (''Cepola macrophthalma'') is sometimes referred to as ribbonfish, but it is unrelated to any ribbonfish in the Trachipteridae. They are readily recognized by their anatomy — a long, compressed, tape-like body, short head, narrow mouth and feeble teeth.
