Dhaka Stock Exchange
The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ( bn, ঢাকা স্টক এক্সচেঞ্জ ''Dhaka stôk ekschenj''), located in Nikunja, Dhaka, is one of the two stock exchanges of Bangladesh, the other being the Chittagong Stock Exchange. In 2021, the combined market capitalisation of listed companies on the Dhaka bourse stood at over $68 billion. History First incorporated as East Pakistan Stock Exchange Association Ltd on 28 April 1954 and started formal trading in 1956. It was renamed as East Pakistan Stock Exchange Ltd on 23 June 1962. Again renamed as Dacca Stock Exchange Ltd on 13 May 1964. After the liberation war in 1971 the trading was discontinued for five years. In 1976 trading restarted in Bangladesh, on 16 September 1986 DSE was started. The formula for calculating DSE all share price index was changed according to IFC on 1 November 1993. Ahmad Fazlur Rahman (banker)
Sir Ahmad Fazlur Rahman ( bn, আহমেদ ফজলুর রহমান; 28 December 1889 – 24 March 1945), also known as A. F. Rahman, was a Bengali academic. He served as the first Bengali Vice-chancellor of the University of Dhaka during 1934–1936. He was knighted by the British Government of India in 1942. Early life and education Fazlur Rahman was born on 28 December 1889, to a Bengali Muslim parents Abdur Rahman and Begum Rahimunnessa in Jalpaiguri, Bengal Presidency. His father was a scholar originally from Feni District, Feni in eastern Bengal. Rahman passed matriculation examination from Jalpaiguri Zila School in 1908. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in history in 1912 from the Oxford University and Calcutta University in 1913 respectively.
