Devendra Sharma (general)
Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, PVSM, AVSM, SM is a serving general officer of the Indian Army. He currently serves as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Army Training Command. He previously served as the Chief of Staff, Western Command. He earlier served as General Officer Commanding Vajra Corps (XI Corps), prior to that he served as Chief of Staff, Western Command. The general officer is also the Colonel of the Scinde Horse. Early life and education The general officer is an alumnus of Mayo College, Ajmer. He then attended the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. In Indian Military Academy, he was awarded the ''Sword of Honour'' for standing first in overall merit. He is also an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, College of Defence Management, Secunderabad and Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi. Indian Military Academy
The Indian Military Academy (IMA) is one of the oldest military academies in India, and trains officers for the Indian Army. Located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, it was established in 1932 following a recommendation by a military committee set up under the chairmanship of General (United Kingdom), General (later Field Marshal (United Kingdom), Field Marshal) Philip Chetwode, 1st Baron Chetwode, Sir Philip Chetwode. From a class of 40 male cadets in 1932, IMA now has a sanctioned capacity of 1,650. Cadets undergo a training course varying between 3 and 16 months depending on entry criteria. Operation Rakshak
Indian Army operations in Jammu and Kashmir include security operations such as Operation ''Rakshak'', which began in 1990, Operation ''Sarp Vinash'' in 2003 and Operation ''Randori Behak'' in ''2020''. MONUSCO
The United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, or MONUSCO (an acronym based on its French name ), is a United Nations peacekeeping force in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. A planned withdrawal from the country is currently on indefinite hold due to advances by the armed group M23 in the North and South Kivu provinces. MONUSCO was established by the United Nations Security Council in resolutions 1279 (1999) and 1291 (2000) to monitor the peace process of the Second Congo War, though much of its focus subsequently turned to the Ituri conflict, the Kivu conflict and the Dongo conflict. Indian Military Training Team
The Indian Military Training Team (IMTRAT), established since 1961–62, is a training mission of the Indian Army in Bhutan. IMTRAT is responsible for the training of the personnel of the Royal Bhutan Army (RBA) and the Royal Bodyguard of Bhutan (RBG). It is the oldest training team sent outside India to a friendly foreign nation. IMTRAT is headquartered at Haa Dzong in Western Bhutan. The College of Defence Management (CDM) is an Indian defence service training institution imparting management training to defence servants. CDM is entrusted with the responsibility of instilling contemporary management thoughts, concepts and practices in the senior leadership of the three services. Western Command (India)
Western Command is a Command (military formation), Command-level formation (military), formation of the Indian Army. It was formed in 1920. It was disbanded following its demotion to an independent district and eventual merge with Northern Command to form the North-western Army. It was re-raised in 1947 following the transfer of Northern Command HQ to Pakistan. Until 1972, it was responsible for India's border with Pakistan in the North and West and the Chinese border in the North.
