Development Policy Centre
The Development Policy Centre (Devpol) is an aid and development policy think tank based at the Crawford School of Public Policy in the College of Asia and the Pacific at the Australian National University. Devpol undertakes independent research and promotes practical initiatives to improve the effectiveness of Australian aid, to support the development of Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Islands region, and to contribute to better global development policy. Established in September 2010, the centre plays an active role in providing a research base for, and facilitating dialogue among, the Australian aid and development sector and policymakers throughout the region. Devpol's director is ProfessoStephen Howes who co-founded the centre with its first deputy director, Matthew Morris. Robin Davies was the centre's associate director until 2017. Peter O'Neill
Peter Charles Paire O'Neill (born 13 February 1965) is a Papua New Guinean politician who served as the seventh Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea from 2011 to 2019. He has been a Member of Parliament for Ialibu-Pangia since 2002. He was a former cabinet minister and the leader of the People's National Congress between 2006 and 2022. He resigned his position as prime minister to avoid a vote of no confidence, and he was succeeded by James Marape. Ume Wainetti , from Papua New Guinea (PNG), was the National Coordinator of the PNG Family and Sexual Violence Action Committee (FSVAC). Activities Sibaio Ume Wainetti was National Coordinator of the PNG Family and Sexual Violence Action Committee (FSVAC) from 2002 to 2017. FSVAC was set up in 2000 to be the principal national body to coordinate activities to address family and sexual violence in Papua New Guinea. It is believed that the majority of women in Papua New Guinea have been beaten or raped by a partner or family member. Dame Carol Anne Kidu ( Millwater ; born 10 October 1948), also known as Carol, Lady Kidu, is an Australian-born Papua New Guinean politician. Martin Ravallion
Martin Ravallion (19 March 1952 – 24 December 2022) was an Australian economist. He was the inaugural Edmond D. Villani Professor of Economics at Georgetown University, and had previously been director of the research department at the World Bank. He held a PhD in economics from the London School of Economics. Life and career Ravallion researched extensively on poverty in developing countries and on policies for fighting poverty.
