Deulgukhwa
Deulgukhwa () was a South Korean rock band formed in 1982 by Jeon In-kwon, Choi Seong-won, Heo Seong-wook, and Jo Deok-hwan. They are considered one of the best rock groups in Korea in the 80s and 90s, often being referred to as "Korea's Beatles." In September 1985, they released their first album ''March (Deulgukhwa album), March'', which included hits "That's My World" and "March". After the failure of their second album, Deulgukhwa disbanded due to creative differences among the members. In the 1980s, under the military regime, the mainstream popular music world, which was dominated by soft ballads and trots, presented Korean-style rock with rebellious lyrics and screaming vocals by Jeon In-kwon. March (Deulgukhwa Album)
''March'' is the debut studio album of South Korean rock band Deulgukhwa, released on September 10, 1985, and reissued on CD in 1991. The album is considered to have opened the 'new music beginning of the 80's' and the 'renaissance of Korean pop music in the mid and late 80's'. It received 207 points from 45 selection committee members and ranked first in the Top 100 Korean Popular Music Albums selected by the Kyunghyang Shinmun in 2007. About 1.8 million albums It is estimated to have been sold. ''March'' is the band's only album to feature their original lineup, with guitarist Jo Deok-hwan leaving prior to their sophomore album. Jeon In-kwon
Jeon In-kwon (; born September 4, 1954) is a South Korean singer-songwriter and former lead singer of the band Deulgukhwa, who were known as the "Beatles of Korea." Career Jeon debuted as the lead singer of the folk rock band Apart and Together (따로 또 같이). In 1979, they released their first album, ''Face That Hang (맴도는 얼굴)''. However, Jeon was unhappy with the album and later said of it, "I thought I would sneak into the recording studio and set a fire to get rid of the master tape." In 1985, he formed the rock band Deulgukhwa (들국화), and they released their first album, ''March (행진)''. The group became immensely popular among young people for its rebellious messages in the era of South Korean military rule. The Golden Disc Awards (, formerly spelled the Golden Disk Awards before 2015) is an annual South Korean major music awards ceremony that honors achievements in the local music industry.
