Destry (band)
Destry is an indie folk band centered on Michelle DaRosa. History Michelle DaRosa announced her departure from Straylight in June 2008 in order to work on a solo album. The Destry project was made public in October 2008, when Sam Means of the Format posted that he had been recording music for them for a few months. Destry's current work currently consists of collaborations between Michelle and four other artists, Means, drummer Nico Childrey and Tyler Odom who played together in Cassino, and bassist Shaun Cooper of Straylight Run and Taking Back Sunday Taking Back Sunday is an American rock band from Amityville, New York, formed by guitarist Eddie Reyes and bassist Jesse Lacey in late 1999. Straylight Run
Straylight Run is an indie rock band based in Baldwin, Nassau County, New York. The band released two albums, ''Straylight Run (album), Straylight Run'' and ''The Needles the Space'', as well as three EPs, ''Prepare to Be Wrong'', ''About Time'', and ''Un Mas Dos''. In 2010, the band announced that they would be going on indefinite hiatus, but might reunite in the future. The Format
The Format was an American indie rock band, formed by vocalist Nate Ruess and multi-instrumentalist Sam Means (musician), Sam Means. Their style can be considered a mixture of indie, alternative, punk and folk music, with elements of 1960s and 1970s pop music. The Format chose their name to make fun of the music industry's inclination towards a cookie-cutter "format" for a hit. Formed in 2002, the band announced a hiatus on February 4, 2008. On February 4, 2020, they announced a return from their hiatus for a tour of special shows that were later cancelled due to the pandemic. Michelle DaRosa (née Nolan) is an American musician, formerly of the band Straylight Run, for whom she was a vocalist, guitarist, and pianist. Biography Michelle DaRosa was born Michelle Nolan on September 13, 1980, in Rockville Centre, Nassau County, New York to Tom and Linda Nolan. Like her brother and former bandmate, John Nolan, she grew up in Baldwin, Nassau County, New York. She attended South Shore Christian School in Levittown, New York for her freshman and second years of high school. She then attended Baldwin High School in Baldwin, New York for her junior and senior years. During her junior and senior years of high school, Michelle also attended Nassau Tech in Westbury, New York to study cosmetology. Samuel Thomas Means is an American songwriter, producer and musician, previously songwriter of indie pop band The Format. Music career Sam Means and Nate Ruess left their previous bands Nevergonnascore and This Past Year and formed the indie-pop duo, The Format, in February 2000. The Format announced a hiatus on February 4, 2008. On September 29, 2009, Means released the original motion picture soundtrack for the indie film ''The Sinking of Santa Isabel''. Tyler Odom
Northstar was an American band formed in 1997 in Huntsville, Alabama. History Early years and debut album (1997–2003) Since the band's inception, they have had around five guitarists and three different bassists, have been a three-piece, four-piece, and a five-piece. Due to a lack of a dedicated music scene in the Huntsville area, the band decided to start touring the country in 2000. They booked their first tour, bought a van, and set out on the road. After two years of booking, promoting, and producing everything themselves, the band signed a deal with Triple Crown Records of New York City in June 2002. By this point, the only original member in the band was drummer Gabe Renfroe. Their line-up solidified with Nick Torres on lead vocals and guitar, Tyler Odom on guitar and Shawn Reagan on bass. Cassino (band)
Cassino is a folk band from Huntsville, Alabama, created from the remnants of the band Northstar. In April 2005, Cassino was birthed from the remnants of the two principal songwriters of the Alabama rock group Northstar – a team that arose through a creative bond between childhood friends Nick Torres and Tyler Odom. They began recording their first album in 2006 with Nashville-based producer–drummer Craig Krampf, known for his work with artists including Dolly Parton, Alabama, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Perry and Melissa Etheridge. While the record does not have a specifically Nashville sound, the city did become prevalent in the making of their debut record ''Sounds of Salvation'', both as a new environment to inspire songwriting, and in the cast of characters brought in by Krampf. Taking Back Sunday is an American rock band from Amityville, New York, formed by guitarist Eddie Reyes and bassist Jesse Lacey in late 1999. The band's current members are Adam Lazzara (lead vocals), John Nolan (lead guitar, keyboards, vocals) and Shaun Cooper (bass guitar), accompanied by Nathan Cogan (guitar) for their live performances.
