Reception Jason Ankeny of allmusic gave it 2 out of 5 stars, expressing his dislike for Scott Ayers' compositional style and calling Bliss Blood's contributions "negligible at best". The album cover features an image appropriated from the first edition of William S. Burroughs's novel ''Junkie'', published by Ace Books. Pain Teens was an experimental noise rock band (music), band formed in Houston, Texas in 1985 by Scott Ayers and Bliss Blood. The band used tape manipulation, digital delays, sampling, tape cut-ups and other effects in their music. They also included guitar, violin, marimba, saxophone, percussion, and many other musical instruments. Beginning in 1987, Pain Teens released nine cassette tapes and two LP record, LPs on their own Anomie Records label, all of which went out of print. Soon after, they released four LPs for Trance Syndicate Records, an Austin, Texas, Austin, Texas label run by King Coffey of the band Butthole Surfers. ''Songs from a Room'' is the second studio album by Canadian musician Leonard Cohen, released in 1969. It reached No. 63 on the US ''Billboard'' Top LPs and No. 2 on the UK charts. Background The recording sessions for ''Songs From a Room'' began in Hollywood in May 1968 with David Crosby as producer. That didn't work out, and the album was eventually produced at Columbia Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, with producer Bob Johnston (two of the tracks from the Crosby sessions are included as bonus tracks on the 2007 remastered version).
