Dessie Sloyan
Desmond "Dessie" Sloyan (born 2 February 1976) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer. His league and championship career at senior level with the Sligo county team spanned ten seasons from 1996 until 2006. Playing career Sloyan scored eight points in Sligo's unexpected victory over a Mick O'Dwyer-managed Kildare in the 2001 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. Managerial career He has also had a successful managerial career in Gaelic Football, winning a Connacht Junior Club Football Championship in 2018 with his club Easkey and also managing Sligo GAA U20s to their first ever provincial title at that age group when winning the 2022 Connacht Under-20 Football Championship. Easkey, County Sligo
Easky or Easkey (; ) is a village in County Sligo, Ireland. It is on the Atlantic coast, from Sligo and from Ballina, County Mayo. The village name derives from the Irish language term for fish ("iasc") and "Iascaigh" literally means "abounding in fish", due to the Easky River that lies adjacent to the village itself. Easky, as a parish, was originally called "Imleach Iseal". The area is a tourist destination on account of its scenery and water sports. Longford Senior Football Team
The Longford county football team represents Longford in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Longford GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Leinster Senior Football Championship and the National Football League. Longford's home ground is Pearse Park, Longford. The team's manager is Paddy Christie. The team last won the Leinster Senior Championship in 1968 and the National League in 1966. The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition in Ireland, and has been contested every year except one since 1887. Patrick Christie ( ga, Pádraig Mac Críosta; born 1976 in Dublin) is an Irish Gaelic football manager and former player who tended to occupy the full-back position for his club Ballymun Kickhams and at senior level for the Dublin county team. He has been manager of the Longford county team since 2022. Playing career Club He won an Under 21 Championship with Ballymun Kickhams. One of the highlights of his achievements at underage level was getting the triple with Ballymun Kickhams U-21 team by winning the Dublin Championship, the North League and then overall league winners in the same season. Although he has retired from inter-county and club football, he occasionally makes substitute appearances or starts for the Ballymun Kickhams club.
