Desirée Carofiglio
Desiree Carofiglio (born 11 March 2000) is an Italian artistic gymnast. She was part of the Italian team that won bronze at the 2019 World Championships. Personal life Carofiglio was born in Casarile on 11 March 2000. Gymnastics career Junior 2014–15 Carofiglio made her international debut at the 2014 City of Jesolo Trophy where she placed sixteenth in the all-around, eighth on vault, and sixth on balance beam. She later competed at a friendly competition in Munich where she placed thirteenth. In May she competed at the European Championships where she helped Italy place fifth in the team final and individually she placed seventh in the vault final. She later competed at the Italy National Championships where she placed seventeenth in the all-around and fifth on vault. In September Carofiglio competed at the Golden League where she won bronze on vault. The uneven bars or asymmetric bars is an artistic gymnastics apparatus. It is made of a steel frame. The bars are made of fiberglass with wood coating, or less commonly wood. The English abbreviation for the event in gymnastics scoring is UB or AB, and the apparatus and event are often referred to simply as "bars". The bars are placed at different heights and widths, allowing the gymnast to transition from bar to bar. A gymnast usually adds white chalk to the hands so that they can grip the bar better. The vault is an artistic gymnastics maneuver typically performed on a pommel horse or a vaulting table. Both male and female gymnasts perform the vault. 2021 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The 2021 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships were held in Kitakyushu, Japan from October 18–24, 2021. The competition took place at the Kitakyushu City General Gymnasium. It was the third time that Japan hosted the event, following the 1995 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, 1995 and 2011 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, 2011 editions. The competition was originally scheduled to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark, before the Danish Gymnastics Federation withdrew from hosting in July 2020. In November 2020, the International Gymnastics Federation, Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique announced Kitakyushu as the replacement host city for the same dates. The Achilles tendon or heel cord, also known as the calcaneal tendon, is a tendon at the back of the lower leg, and is the thickest in the human body. It serves to attach the plantaris, gastrocnemius (calf) and soleus muscles to the calcaneus (heel) bone.
