Tinfed was an American alternative rock group started in Sacramento, California. The final line-up consisted of vocalist and instrumentalist Rey Osburn, guitarist Eric Stenman, drummer Matt McCord, and bassist Rick Verrett. They released three studio albums: ''Synaptic Hardware'' (1993), ''Hypersonic Hyperphonic'' (1996) and ''Tried + True'' (2000). History Early years and indie releases (1992–2000) Tinfed was founded in Sacramento, California by Rey Osburn and Eric Stenman. Stenman and Osburn had previously performed together in the band Elegy, who had only released a 7" titled ''Dormant / Separated'' in 1990. Similar to that project, Tinfed's sound was heavily influenced by punk rock, industrial rock, and indie rock. The band released their debut, titled ''Synaptic Hardware'', in 1993 on Primitech Releases. Alternative Rock
Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Alternative rock acts achieved mainstream success in the 1990s with the likes of the grunge subgenre in the United States, and the Britpop and shoegaze subgenres in the United Kingdom and Ireland. During this period, many record labels were looking for "alternatives", as many Arena rock, corporate rock, hard rock, and glam metal acts from the 1980s were beginning to grow stale throughout the music industry. A remix album is an album consisting of remixes or rerecorded versions of an artist's earlier released material. The first act who employed the format was American singer-songwriter Harry Nilsson ('' Aerial Pandemonium Ballet'', 1971). As of 2007, the best-selling remix album of all time is Michael Jackson's '' Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix'' (1997). Camillo "Chino" Wong Moreno (born June 20, 1973) is an American musician who is best known as the lead vocalist and primary lyricist of the alternative metal band Deftones. He is also a member of the side-project groups Team Sleep, Crosses, and Palms. Moreno is known for his dramatic tenor voice and distinctive screams. In 2007, he was placed at number 51 in '' Hit Parader''s "Top 100 Metal Vocalists of All Time". Early life Moreno was born in Sacramento, California, the second of five children. His mother is of Mexican and Chinese descent and his father is Mexican. Team Sleep is an American rock supergroup led by singer/guitarist Chino Moreno. Moreno is better known for fronting the Sacramento-based alternative metal band Deftones. Kristy Marlana Wallace (born February 20, 1953), known as Poison Ivy or Poison Ivy Rorschach, is an American guitarist, songwriter, arranger, producer, and occasional vocalist who co-founded the rock band The Cramps. Early life Ivy was born as Kristy Wallace in San Bernardino, California, and raised near Sacramento. In 1972, while attending Sacramento State College, Wallace met future Cramps singer Lux Interior. Career In 1974, they moved first to Interior's hometown of Akron, Ohio, and then to New York City. In 1976, as part of the emerging punk rock scene, they began performing as the Cramps. Erick Lee Purkhiser (October 21, 1946 – February 4, 2009), better known by the stage name Lux Interior, was an American singer and a founding member of the American rock band the Cramps from 1976 until his death in 2009 at age 62. Early life Born in Akron, Ohio, he grew up in its nearby suburb of Stow and graduated from Stow High School. Career He met his partner Kristy Wallace, better known as Poison Ivy, in Sacramento in 1972, when he and a friend picked her up while she was hitchhiking. Eric Stenman is an American record producer, engineer and mixer. He has recorded projects with The Barbarians of California, AWOLNATION, Will Haven, Irontom, Thrice, Senses Fail, Saves The Day, Deftones, Far, Gameface, M.I.A., Dashboard Confessional, Lovedrug, Tokyo Police Club, Earth Crisis, Snapcase, Strife, and many more. Stenman grew up in Sacramento, CA and got his start playing guitar and/or bass in the bands Tinfed, Elegy, and Bureau of the Glorious. Stenman engineered his first sessions at John Baccigaluppi's (of TapeOp Magazine) Enharmonik Studios. From 2007 to 2017, Stenman was the Studio Manager/Chief Engineer at Red Bull Studios – Los Angeles. From 2017 to the present, Stenman has overseen AWOLNATION's recording studio in Malibu, California.
