Desert Moon (Great White Song)
"Desert Moon" is a single released by the American rock band Great White in 1991. It is the ninth track off of their album Hooked. During a performance of this song in 2003, indoor pyrotechnics created a fire at the Station nightclub which claimed 100 lives. The Station Nightclub fire On February 20, 2003, at 11:00 PM, the band (touring as the name Jack Russell's Great White) began a performance of "Desert Moon". As the song began, illegal indoor pyrotechnics were set off by the band's manager, Dan Biechele. Within seconds, the polyurethane foam in the drummer's alcove was ignite by the sparks. Great White
Great White is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1977. The band peaked with several albums during the mid-to-late 1980s, including the platinum-selling records ''Once Bitten'' (1987) and '' ...Twice Shy'' (1989), and those albums' singles " Rock Me" and " Once Bitten, Twice Shy" received considerable airplay through radio and MTV. ''Hooked'' is the fifth full-length studio album by the American hard rock band Great White, released in 1991. Though lacking a recognizable hit single and not commercially as successful as '' ...Twice Shy'', it still managed to peak at No. 18 on the ''Billboard'' 200 album chart. The album was certified Gold in April 1991. 'Hooked' was the last Great White album to feature bassist Tony Montana. In Q Magazine 's Jeff Clark-Meads described the album as "relaxed, mellow and endearing - though this is likely to engender disappointment for those who hitherto considered Great White a metal act." Alan Niven is a New Zealand-born band manager best known for his tenure as manager of Guns N' Roses and Great White. Biography Niven became the manager of Guns N' Roses, serving from 1986 to 1991. Michael Lardie (born September 8, 1958) is an American musician and record producer known for his memberships in the rock bands Great White and Night Ranger. The Station Nightclub Fire
The Station nightclub fire occurred on the evening of February 20, 2003, in West Warwick, Rhode Island, United States, killing 100 people and injuring 230. The fire was caused by pyrotechnics set off by the tour manager of the evening's headlining band, Great White, which ignited flammable acoustic foam in the walls and ceilings surrounding the stage. It reached flashover within one minute, causing all combustible materials to burn. Intense black smoke engulfed the club within two minutes. Video footage of the fire shows its ignition, rapid growth, the billowing smoke that quickly made escape impossible, and blocked egress that further hindered evacuation. Ty Christopher Longley (September 4, 1971 – February 20, 2003) was an American guitarist. He was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Brookfield High School in Brookfield, Ohio. He joined the band Great White in 2000, played in Samantha 7, The Bullet Boys, and played in Nick Menza's solo project.
