Des Ferguson
Desmond Ferguson (1930 – 2 November 2021) was a Gaelic footballer who played for the Dublin county team. He played his club football and with St Vincents. He won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship with Dublin in 1958 and 1963. He moved to Meath and began playing with Gaeil Colmcille winning Meath Senior Football Championship titles with them in 1966 and 1968. His death was announced on 2 November 2021. St Vincents GAA
St Vincents is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club based in Marino, Dublin, Marino, on the northside of Dublin, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club was founded in 1931. Although the club's grounds were in Raheny for a number of years, it moved to its home back into Marino in 1987. St Vincents merged with Marino Camogie Club in 1997 to form the St. Vincents Hurling, Football and Camogie Club. St Vincents have won the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship on three occasions, most recently in 2014. They are the most successful side in the Dublin Senior Football championship having won the title 29 times. The club has also won 15 Dublin Senior 1 camogie titles (6 as Marino). The 1955 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 69th staging of Ireland's premier Gaelic football knock-out competition. Meath were the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Dublin in the Leinster final. Kerry were the winners. Note Quarter Finals were back in the Munster championship but Clare only skipped 1 year. Limerick, not part of the championship between 1953 and 1964, were approved to host Waterford in the Quarter Final but did not play them due to a dispute over the eligibility of players. Dublin Senior Hurling Championship
The Dublin Senior Hurling Championship () is an annual hurling competition organised by the Dublin County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) since 1887 for the top hurling clubs in County Dublin, Ireland. Sixteen clubs compete. Initially the teams are divided into four groups of four with the group matches being played from April to May with a break to accommodate the All-Ireland Championship and resume during August or September. The group stage is followed by a knock-out phase which takes place during the months of October and November. Sponsored by Go-Ahead, it is therefore officially known as the Go-Ahead Dublin Senior Hurling Championship. Since the establishment of the Dublin Senior Hurling Championship in 1887, a total of 26 clubs have won the tournament. Faughs have been the most successful club having won 31 titles. The Dublin Senior Football Championship (currently known for sponsorship reasons as the '' Go-Ahead'' Dublin Senior Football Championship) is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition between the top Dublin GAA clubs. The 1948 All-Ireland Minor Football Championship was the 17th staging of the All-Ireland Minor Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament for boys under the age of 18. Tyrone entered the championship as defending champions. On 26 September 1948, Tyrone won the championship following an 0-11 to 1-5 defeat of Dublin in the All-Ireland final. Leinster Minor Football Championship
The Leinster Minor Football Championship is the premier under-17 "knockout" competition in gaelic football played in the province of Leinster. 2017 was the final year of the minor under 18 football championship as it were replaced by an under 17 championship following a vote at the GAA Congress on 26 February 2016. The current Leinster champions are Longford. The Leinster minor football championship is known as the Fr. Larry Murray Trophy. The Cup is named after Fr. Larry Murray who was an underage GAA mentor in both Louth and Armagh, hence the Ulster Minor Football Championship is also named after Fr. Larry Murray.
