	Derman Druha Derman Druha () is a village in the Mizoch settlement hromada of the Rivne Raion of Rivne Oblast in Ukraine. History The first written mention of the village was in 1322. 	Mizoch Settlement Hromada Mizoch (, , , ) is a rural settlement in Zdolbuniv Raion, Rivne Oblast, Ukraine, 30 km far from Rivne. Its population was . History The first written record goes back to 1322. The confirmation of the city's legal status dates from 1429. In 1761, the King Augustus III of Poland granted Mizocz the Magdeburg Rights. The civic self-government placed the city Velykyi Mizoch (Greater Mizoch) in the Luts'k district. Between world wars, Mizocz was a multi-ethnic community like many others in eastern Poland, inhabited by Jews, Poles, and Ukrainians. There was a military school in Mizocz for the officer cadets of the Battalion 11 of the Polish Army's First Brigade; the Karwicki Palace (built in 1790, partly destroyed by the Bolsheviks in 1917), Hotel Barmocha Fuksa, a Catholic and an Orthodox church, and a Synagogue. 	Ulas Samchuk Ulas Oleksiiovych Samchuk (; 20 February 1905 – 9 July 1987) was a Ukrainian writer, propagandist, publicist, journalist, and a member of the Government of the Ukrainian People's Republic in exile. He was a member of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, a Nazi collaborator, and noted antisemite. Biography Samchuk was born on 20 February 1905, in the village of Derman (now Derman Druha, Rivne Raion, Rivne Oblast, Ukraine). From 1917 to 1920 he studied at a four-grade elementary school in Derman. In 1921–1925 he studied at the Kremenets Ukrainian private gymnasium. Before he finished his secondary education, he was called up for service in the Polish Army in 1927, and later deserted in August of that year, escaping to Germany. In Germany he worked delivering coal, and with the help of a supportive German family, Samchuk continued his studies at the University of Breslau. In 1929, Samchuk moved to Prague, Czechoslovakia.
