Derik Steiner (born February 23, 1987) is an American football fullback who is currently a free agent. He played college football at Morehead State Morehead State University (MSU) is a public university in Morehead, Kentucky. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Green Bay Blizzard of the IFL in 2010. He was later signed by the Trenton Steel of the Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL) in 2011. After the Steel, Steiner was assigned to the Cleveland Gladiators of the AFL where he played for two seasons. He was traded to the San Jose SaberCats on January 3, 2014 from the Cleveland Gladiators. A fullback (FB) is a position in the offense (sports), offensive backfield in gridiron football, and is one of the two running back positions along with the halfback (American football), halfback. Fullbacks are typically larger than halfbacks and in most offensive schemes the fullback's duties are split among power running, pass catching, and blocking for both the quarterback and the other running back. Southern Indoor Football League
The Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL) was an indoor football league based in the Southern and Eastern United States. The most recent incarnation of the league was a consolidation of an earlier league of the same name that was formed by Thom Hager along with Dan Blum, Robert Winfrey and Dan Ryan in 2009 and the American Indoor Football Association, which traces its roots to the founding of the Atlantic Indoor Football League in 2005.
