Derib (born Claude de Ribaupierre on 8 August 1944 in La Tour-de-Peilz, Switzerland) is a Swiss francophone comics creator. He is best known for creating the comics '' Les Aventures d'Attila'', '' Buddy Longway'' and '' Yakari''. Les Aventures D'Attila
''Les Aventures d'Attila'' (in English: ''The Adventures of Attila''), also known as Attila, is a Bande dessinée, French-Belgian comic strip series of Humour, humorous Anthropomorphism, animal adventures created in 1967 by Belgian scriptwriter Maurice Rosy and Swiss illustrator Derib in ''Spirou (magazine), Spirou'' No. 1531. From 1968 onwards, Maurice Kornblum joined as a co-writer for the series. took over drawing duties in 1987 for a final story. The series features Attila, a dog and spy for the Swiss Armed Forces, Swiss army, whose mental faculties have been enhanced, including the ability to speak, rendering him the army's most valuable asset. He is accompanied by his handler, Ernest Bourrillon, a former quartermaster. In the second album, Attila adopts a young boy named Odée. In the subsequent album, they are assisted by another spy dog, designated as Z14, created by Professor Comant. Buddy Longway
Buddy Longway is a western bande dessinée written by the Swiss cartoonist Derib. It is published under the Le Lombard publishing house. The first album came out in 1972, and 16 albums were published until 1987. Yakari
''Yakari'' is a Franco-Swiss comic book series, aimed at a younger audience, originally written by Job, and illustrated by Derib, both from Switzerland. The series is now written by Frenchman Joris Chamblain. ''Yakari'' is one of the best-known Franco-Belgian comics in Europe. Yakari has (on two occasions, 1983 and 2005) been adapted into a cartoon series on television. A French animated movie adaptation was released in 2020. Concept Yakari is a young Sioux Native American who has the ability to understand and speak animal languages. During his adventures, he meets all sorts of North American animals. His best friends are a Sioux girl, "Rainbow", a Sioux boy "Buffalo Seed" and his pony "Little Thunder". He has a totem animal, "Great Eagle", who frequently appears to him to give him critical advice. The setting is the North American Great Plains, mainly. Prix Saint-Michel
The Prix Saint-Michel () is a series of comic awards presented by the city of Brussels, with a focus on Franco-Belgian comics. They were first awarded in 1971, and although often said to be the oldest European comics awards, they are actually the second oldest comics award in Europe still presented, behind the Adamson Awards. Their history is quite erratic though, with a long pause between 1986 and 2002.
