Departure Lake (Ontario)
Departure Lake is a lake in geographic Haggart Township in Unorganized North Cochrane District, Cochrane District, in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is in the James Bay drainage basin and is south of the community of Departure Lake on Ontario Highway 11. The primary inflow, at the south, and outflow, at the north, is the Poplar Rapids River, which flows via the Mattagami River and the Moose River to James Bay. There is a picnic area on the north shore of the lake at the end of North Access Road, the road that leads south from Highway 11 at community of Departure Lake. Cochrane District is a district and census division in Northeastern Ontario in the Canadian province of Ontario. It was created in 1921 from parts of Timiskaming and Thunder Bay districts. Moose River (Ontario)
The Moose River is a river in the Hudson Plains ecozone of northern Ontario, Canada. The river flows 100 km northeast from the confluence of the Mattagami and Missinaibi Rivers into James Bay. Its drainage basin is and it has a mean discharge rate of . Its full length is if counted from the head of the Mattagami River. This river formed part of the water route to Lake Superior in the days of the fur trade. Departure Lake is a dispersed rural community and unincorporated place in geographic Haggart Township, Cochrane District in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is located on Ontario Highway 11 between the communities of Strickland to the west and Smooth Rock Falls to the east. The community is counted as part of Unorganized North Cochrane District in Canadian census data. James Bay (, ; ) is a large body of water located on the southern end of Hudson Bay in Canada. It borders the provinces of Quebec and Ontario, and is politically part of Nunavut. Its largest island is Akimiski Island. Numerous waterways of the James Bay watershed have been modified with dams or diversion for several major hydroelectricity, hydroelectric projects.
