The Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning () is a member of the Cabinet in the Welsh Government. The current officeholder is Rebecca Evans since September 2024. The position was titled ''Minister for the Economy and Transport'' from 2007 to 2011. The Minister had responsibility for the Department for the Economy and Transport, which combined two devolved functions of the Welsh Government: Business and Economy, and Transport. The department was created in June 2007, as successor to the Department for Enterprise Innovation and Networks, following the National Assembly for Wales elections in May 2007. Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones AM was appointed to the post in July 2007, succeeding Dr Brian Gibbons AM, who had been Minister since the previous month, and held the position until 13 May 2011. Andrew David Davies (born 5 May 1952) is a Welsh politician who represented the constituency of Swansea West in the National Assembly for Wales from 1999 to 2011. He is a member of Welsh Labour. Davies was born in Hereford to Welsh parents; his mother is from Llandeilo and his father from Holywell, Flintshire. The deputy first minister of Wales () is the deputy leader of the Welsh Government. The post was created in October 2000 when Mike German of the Welsh Liberal Democrats was appointed Deputy First Minister as part of a coalition government with Welsh Labour. Michael German is a retired American FBI agent, scholar, and writer. He is a fellow in the Brennan Center for Justice's Liberty and National Security program. Life During his 16-year career as a Special Agent in the FBI, German spent many months undercover, first among white supremacists and then among right-wing militants.
